I’m not complaining about being locked in
My complaint is with being forced to get jabbed with something that could or couldn’t work, otherwise I can’t even walk into a bottle shop grab a carton of beer, pay and **** off, yet I can walk into a cafe, place an order, stand around for 10-15 minutes waiting for my order (because I’m not allowed to sit down) with other people with there masks half arsed on there faces
I feel I’m being controlled to satisfy someone’s agenda
    What’s next???
As my doctor advised me at the start of the pandemic, it’s just another variation of influenza and since I am a fairly healthy being, don’t get sick from flus usually, maybe sniffle or a cough for a day or so, I don’t need to be vaccinated
2 years later, the doctor still isn’t advising me to be vaccinated, but “the government’s health advise is to get vaccinated”
I asked what their opinion was and the reply was the same
Very scripted and no real opinion of there own was discussed
When asked the side effects, the doc run me through the possibilities and in my opinion, I would be better off getting Covid and hitting on the head with a nip of Pops old faithful (scotch whiskey) and some of South Australia’s best (Coopers)

Countries like Denmark, England, France, Norway, (the list goes on) seem to have realised this and are getting on with life

The Disaster zone you speak of, IMO, is being made to sound a lot worse than it is by the media and the powers above, causing panic by the hoards

If it is an apocalypse out there, me, my family and the trusty steed (the 110) will head out into the wilderness and make the most of it

If we all keel over with covid, so be it, we’ve got to die one day, but I’m not worrying about it, we are just getting on with life and putting all the hype behind us and forging forward

Enough ranting…….for the moment, the day awaits, money to be made, money to be spent and enjoyment to be had (Me and the trusty steed have bales of hay to move)

Alan Joyce of Quaintarse was not happy about the half opening up, likening it to being like North Korea.

    Bloody sauce!

Edit. Gav don't overlook that a lot of people & organisations are making a load of lolly out of this.

Life in Yass is pretty normal, you still have to do the check in (so you can be reminded by the meaningless alerts that every time you go to the chemist sick people go there, even ones with covid) Mask wearing is pretty much universal as a customer in business premises but once you are sitting down at the pub off it comes. Also in the ACT if you are spaced from other people you don't need it when you are sitting at your desk. Work is being impacted by covid with people being off for a week if they catch it, the most disruptive thing is workers with young kids in daycare, they are considered close contacts if a member of the daycare goes positive, so if a kid tests positive its all out for a week and the parents have to take leave to look after them. Aside from that the impact isn't much worse than a flu season. No one's doing rat tests unless they feel sick apparently in the school community but at least everyone with school age kids has (free) rat tests in case they do get sick. It seems people have decided there isn't much point in doing them if you don't have symptoms.....

Take care there Gav. Just be wary of getting COVID if you are unvaccinated.

I work in the insurance game, and the data coming out of the UK is showing you are 8 times more likely to end up in ICU if you are not vaccinated.

Sadly once in ICU, your chances of survival drops (for both vaccinated and unvaccinated), and anyone with other underlying medical or health conditions would be at higher risk again.

The other data from the UK is showing that people in the 40-59 age bracket are seeing a 15-20% higher mortality rate in the UK compared to pre-COVID levels. Delayed access to vaccinations is the explanation being given for this.

So the secret seems to be to not get COVID in the first place if you can avoid it, and if you do get it, then you do want to be vaccinated (unless of course there is a medical reason not be vaccinated).

I am not a medical expert, but do understand risk and just highlighting what the data is telling us.

But yes - fully agree that there has been too much meddling with people lives. Many states, and countries, have realised it is time for a more balanced approach. Even Dan is not exercising his new found powers - and that is truly amazing.

High vaccination levels though is key to this - so make sure you are getting good advice.

P.s and no it is not an apocalypse over here. Life feels pretty normal again but people are taking more care.

The vaccines available in Australia have Prooven themselves to be an effective treatment that has saved countless lives so far So that argument is pure hogwash.

I feel I’m being controlled to satisfy someone’s agenda
Those that have bothered to get vaccinated shouldn't have to run the risk of infection because of an anti vaxers agenda either.

Any doctor who told you that a coronavirus is influenza and that in any case you're a healthy individual so you don't need to be vaccinated really shouldn't be practising medicine.

BTW, influenza isn't "the flu", meaning some form of the common cold: the last time I had the actual influenza I was literally unable to stand up - it's incredibly debilitating. And I was young and very, very fit.

Those countries are highly vaccinated and/or have vaccine mandates. France isn't "getting on with life", they have the same vaccine pass requirements that we have, but are apparently relaxing when masks have to be worn outside.

Actually they are an effective, relatively risk free preventative, at very least reducing the effects of the virus to inconvenient rather than significant or life threatening. If the virus has been contracted, having the jab is too little, too late. The jab is not a cure or treatment.

I'm basically in agreement with your view, but you need to be more accurate with claims and terminology.

Just three short stories to show the human face of the Aged Care crisis. Staff shortages are main problem, Beds not made for two weeks, unassisted showers for frail residents, workers experiencing critical shortages of PPE, working 15-18 hour days and seven day weeks.

    Just three short stories;

I guess nothing shows the benefit of the booster more than the stats. in QLD. At this point 70% of people over 70 have received the booster, only 30 % have not , but more than 90% of the people who have died were un-boosted. And now, Wellcamp has its first visitors -10 unvaccinated international travellers. Wellcamp has 500 beds ready, 500 more in April. Overseas visitors whose countries' vaccination programs aren't recognised by the TGA, Maritime arrivals, and overseas agricultural workers whom need to quarantine before going on farms will be the first to use the facility.
