The modelling by Chris Billington is projecting WA will hit around 600,000 cases - which would translate to around 450 people dying “with” covid.

These models tend to overestimate until a firm trend is established and we start to see when the peak will truly form. So if we use SA as a comparison, WA may get away with under 200,000 cases and as little as 150 deaths with covid.
I do truly hope they do much better and no doubt if they do then some can continue to gloat about this and ridicule the rest of Australia despite managing Covid so well by global standards.
The east coast may yet see another wave over winter as booster shots start to wane. And at some stage another variant will arrive and upset things for a while. Who knows - maybe we will discover an Aussie variant - Pi. I‘ll have a pie and corona please.
Looks like NZ is heading the same way as similar sized states in Australia despite having better border controls.

So keep those vulnerable people safe.

Yet another perspective on it courtesy of the Whitewashing Health Organisation : Covid rules in NSW change as WHO warns Australia | Daily Mail Online
I just thought it was timely given the last page of posts and I don't have a firm opinion either way. I see it more as "damned if you do and damned if you don't".
Got the telly on for the 14:15 (GMT+8) presser to see if the inside info I got from someone with connections to the DPC last week as to what he's likely to do next (yes that's third hand news) is going to be accurate.
Despite being in the Daily Mail - it is a legit concern.
I was surprised we didn’t tough it out a bit longer. It is not like the restrictions were that hard.
When I was in Singleton compliance with check in rules and mask wearing was the best I have ever seen. I regularly got asked to prove I had checked in as well.
In 4 days I checked into 12 premises and received 3 automated alerts for Covid cases - all within 24-48 hours. One from a 5 minute visit.
The system in NSW works incredibly well. Not sure why they need to drop it all either. Just wish Victoria could have done the same.
It's already here:
