That picture should be about NSW, which is still rising and setting records, not Victoria, which has plateaued.
I hope regional NSW can settle down soon, but I fear Sydney is not going to be over this for some time, because of the population concentration which makes it easier for the virus to spread.
Still, at least they can now have picnics! Small mercies.

something i found interesting, and thank to discomick for the idea
the effective reproduction number for the nsw outbreak is 1.34
the effective reproduction number for the vic outbreak is 1.36

those numbers are close enough to being the same. so the virus is spreading at the same rate.
this tells me that the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of the lockdown is the same in both states.

Am I correct in thinking the national agreement is the national eligible vaccination average must reach the target before any state which has reached the target can open up?
So, for example, the national average would have to hit 70% before a state which had reached 70% could relax restrictions.
So that would stop any state monopolising the vaccine supplies and then relaxing before the nation as a whole got there.
That's how I remember it being announced. Is that correct?
This is exactly the problem Mick, no one knows because the 70% - 80% national vaccination fantasy is all smoke and mirrors. There is no clear plan for the so-called 'opening up' of the country, once ALL jurisdictions have reached 70%-80% vaccinated.

Wilcannia now has 10% of the population infected! with one of the slowest vaccine roll-outs in the country. Will for example the 'opening up' be withheld until Wilcannia is 70%-80% vaccinated? ...Pigs might fly.

So no Covid in Qld, SA, NT, WA, TAS, but everyone should follow Gladys' lead and then we should open the whole country up at effectively 56% vaccinated?

Brilliant! Then what will happen? ….not freedom. Mayhem…
