I don't think there is anything sinister about that.

A doctor friend told me a couple of months ago that he and the rest of the staff spend all day in PPE if they have any contact with patents, They can't afford to have staff forced to isolate. They can't afford to lose available staff, so they have to assume that anyone they come in contact with is infectious.

It isn't a very new policy.

    Your on the money
N95 masks on all my crew when having people in small rooms for anything. I do have air scrubbers UV a&b in aircon units in all rooms.
Face shields, scrubs and gowns are usual.

Its not a new recommendation its S.O.P. Bob. My ears feel "Very" happy when I get outside and can take the mask off

    Swiss cheese is interesting?
Swiss Health Minister Alain Berset is in a bit of bind.

With just under two-thirds of the population fully vaccinated, the Swiss have one of the lowest vaccination rates in Western Europe.

Now, Covid-19 infections are rising exponentially, with case numbers rising by 40% to 50% each week.

So is the health minister planning new restrictions, like neighbouring Germany, or even making vaccination mandatory, like Austria?

Not a bit of it. In fact, on Sunday, Switzerland votes on getting rid of some Covid restrictions altogether.

The world is a nutty place even in smart places. Poms going back to the ....

"As the world scrambled to prevent the spread of the new Omicron coronavirus variant that was first detected in southern Africa, Britain’s Health Security Agency confirmed on Saturday that two cases of the variant had been recorded in the country. In a news conference on Saturday evening, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that to curb the spread of the variant, face masks would be required in stores and on public transportation, a rule the country had ended in July.

Glad you cleared that up. What made me think was when I was vaccinated, no one wore PPE, just a mask. I can understand being fully kitted up in a testing centre, but if the powers to be are that worried about catching covid from double vaccinated people seeking boosters, well it just seemed odd. Although I understand the need for safe practice. And, indeed , appreciate the fact they are taking this seriously.

Every interaction I have had with the medical profession since about March last year has seen the medical staff in full PPE. This applied to both vaccinations, specialist visits and GP visits!

    What's New is Old.

An excerpt from a report by the Health Inspector of Pine Shire Council, a Dr. Ryan, printed in the 'Moreton Daily 16th August 1935' re: Diptheria Vaccinations.

"Considering this was the first of the campaign, this response must be considered very good, but had there been no irresponsible statements circulated and also anti-immunisation letters in the press, I am of the opinion that the number immunised against diptheria would have been well over 50 per cent of the children in the Shire.

Wild statements such as are circulated by people and made in letters to the press against this immunisation, are usually born of ignorance; but unfortunately these people can be of no assistance or give sound advice to parents, or to the children themselves when they become victims of diptheria, neither can they restore the children back to life, when the disease proves fatal and so relieve the burden carried by the parents, or save children for a country which needs them.

Such a responsibility which these types of people have assumed quite airily, is indeed ghastly! Considering the advantages of immunisation as against the appalling results of diptheria itself....."

New COVID-19 variant ‘Botswana’ reported in UP - OrissaPOST

For the last paragraph, UP has a population around 241 million, Ten times the whole of Australia. Kind of puts things in perspective.

Incidentaly, ScoMo has - so we're told - bought enough jabs for EVERYONE, to have two 'boosters' for the next SEVEN years. - Be a real bummer if Omicron / Botswana required a ......'Novel', re-designed "Vaccine".

Makes it kind of ,,, Moronic,,, to have paid out on such a huge order. One wonders at the IQ and foresight of his $CIENCE 'Advisors'.
Wouldn't you have jumped on him if he held off ordering boosters and we then faced running low? Like him or loathe him he cannot win in this scenario we have to face. Cheers

Strange how we are doomed to repeat history. It would be interesting to research whether irrationality is intergenerational...

According to my doctor friend, they take their PPE seriously.

They are each required to try a brand of mask, do a leak test and repeat the exercise until they get one that fits perfectly. They then stick to that particular brand.

If only they had time to read posts on anti-vax, "it's all a hoax", "it's a plandemic", "all you need is a bit of horse de-wormer" social media sites, they would learn how unnecessary all those precautions are.

Would still like to know whether the Govt has actually purchased & paid for them or whether it may be another cock up like before that they only appeared to indicate they wanted them.

    Are these already in Oz?

I agree, a tough decision to make of right or wrong but that is what we pay them for.

For sure a tough decision and we do pay them to make them. However there is no profit in the Govt acting on other than the best medical advice this country can offer (which we know is some of best advice anywhere). So if orders were placed it was likely done on that advice. If in hindsight it might have been better not placing them, that doesn't make the decision to do so wrong at the time the decision was made. Cheers
