Heh heh - glad someone picked up on the irony of the situation. Was expecting a Queenslander to bite first (they fear Mexicans).

But no - it is just the reality of life. Mental health is also important and I can see the angst dealing with this situation is creating for many. We each have to find our own ways to reconcile these risks and learn how to live with it.

Get vaccinated, stay safe, and get on with living.

And no - it is not selfish to want to get back to work and provide support and advice to overseas mining operations - mostly in less developed and less privileged countries. The work I do has a positive impact and I want to get on with it again.

Remember Covid deaths aren’t always directly
Related to the virus, often a complication of the patients health.

If they hadn’t been cocooned for 2 years isolated from the world and often family, how many would have succumbed during the course of the year? We will never know.

And just 2 years ago - almost nobody on here even cared to look up the statistics.

Another (weird) one is the unusual rise in life insurance payouts in the US.

If you got covid in Florida your chances of dying from it in recent months were (are) about one in 20,000.

I’ve been speaking to friends in Thailand.

Over there, if the doctor puts Covid as the cause of death the funeral is paid for by the Government.

Pretty much anybody who has died in the last 2 years has Covid as COD on the certificate.

A friend who died from Liver disease just recently had this exact outcome - so his wife didn’t have to pay the funeral bill.

Statistics are skewed everywhere, making it very difficult to know the underlying reality.

When I was getting jab 3 the other day the nurse was saying that most of the reported cases in SA were from existing conditions rather than the big itself.

In that I believe a lesson to live as healthy as possible is a good take away.
