It's not a difficult job, but if you go ahead with it, make sure you find an Electrician who knows a bit about gens or you'll end up with something less than ideal - I have seen it many times. Feel free to PM me if you do want a quote - I'll put you in touch with a local Electrician who could do it. Not sure what part of Melbourne you're from but I know a few guys who cover various areas.
Yep, one of my wife's friends from kindy is an electrician ..... one of the few women in the industry I'd suspect.

We've got a solar set up so ideally it'd be someone who has experience with hybrid or off-grid setups. I'm in the inner North, I'll PM you.

Marvelous what trades they are in these day, their presence did keep the onsite swearing down but not so much these days as they can mix it on a par with the lads, no matter how hard they try to compete.

Neither - we've been planning to put on batteries for backup (so, at that point it'd be what now appears to be called a hybrid system) but the prices for batteries are still too high, so I figured that in the interim and for a couple of grand I could use a small generator as backup just for when the **** really hits the fan.

Our premium tariff runs out in 2024 so at that point I'll make some changes to the system, including adding a lot more panels.

I wondered about that - but if you switch to batteries the solar can stay on?
