Similarly, the "meta study" (i.e., study of studies) that recently concluded that masks don't assist with blocking infection reviewed 78 papers reviewed only two related to Covid and those two found that masks did assist.
Don’t believe those who claim science proves masks don’t work | Lucky Tran | The Guardian
"The mischaracterization of the Cochrane review by its authors and like-minded supporters is deliberate. Those with vested interests are sowing doubt about the science of Covid-19 protections by using the same disinformation playbook that tobacco companies, the fossil fuel industry and the anti-vax movement have used in the past.
The overselling of the Cochrane study is a classic example of cherry-picking, where biased groups highlight a subset of data that support their position, while ignoring the larger pool of evidence that disagrees with them. Many direct studies in labs show that high-quality masks significantly reduce the number of viral particles mask-wearers inhale and emit, but these are intentionally omitted in the arguments of anti-maskers."

The conspiracy theorists were all about it being deliberately released by the CCP to infect the world. I always thought it made sense that it could have come from a lab where they were researching the virus, but it seems quite unlikely but still within the realms of possibility that it was deliberately released as part of a govt plan. What annoys me is that it's easy for conspiracy theorists to make dozens of the most baseless, speculative assertions and then if just 1 turns out (through no effort or good judgement or analysis on their part) to be wholly or even partly true...they scream I told you I told you![]()
The FBI have presented no hard evidence - they too appear to be only speculating that it came from a lab. Other US agencies have not come to same conclusions.
Scientific research still says the wet markets are the more likely source, but recognises that an accidental leak from a lab is possible.
Hence it is a just political grand standing as per the norm with Covid.

My take was we get 50 each fortnight! "All sites will receive an ongoing allocation of 50 doses .... per fortnight"
I called CVAS who did a Sgt Schultz ( they knew nothing about it)- I thanked them a wished them a good weekend
I called The PHN which is a governement funded GP control organization. The person who called me back was cool. She kept telling me as so many places have said "GO Take a Long Jump"or similar we could get much more each fortnight!
I was calling as I do not want 50 per fortnight I wish to order as needed only. I think I can yet the repeated offers of more than I want did not really clarify the email telling us of 'allocation of 50 doses .... per fortnight"
Got to love bureaucracy- Thank God its Friday
I must have got Vacation & Vaccination mixed up.

We seem to have a significant number of people off with the "not covids". I've got a cold that I probably would have persevered with an gone to work in times past but a couple of other members of my team have a flu/vomiting/diarrhea bug that apparently is most unpleasant.
