The olde DO NOT SNEEZE or one may soil their breeks, complaint?

We have never had a RAT Test or any other for Covid for that matter & still ok. Have had Jabs 1-4 & may have #5 next month with our Flu Vax.

Maybe it is in our Jeans & being of good British Stock? We just practice personal Hygiene (especially mask wearing & hand washing) but now having writ this I'll probably come down with the Plague & a whole host of Lurgies.

    Just sayin'.

So is Azithromycin, which incidentally is good (bad?) for a nasty pneumonia, Rhodococcus equi in horses. And donkeys. And mules. Also quite successful in humans when compared to 'traditional'. antibiotics such as augmentin - oft prescribed for ear infections.

Brad's post obviously belonged in the jokes section where it was posted. I'm not sure whether the response belonged there but I'm pretty sure my response belongs here.

I have the impression that the medical profession is still learning about COVID. It seems that more treatments are being found as a result of rigorous trials.

While it certainly seems that Azithromycin is another useful arrow in the quiver of treatments available, it is important to remember that like all treatments, there is the possibility of side effects. Some of those side effects sound quite serious.

    According to this site:

    Prescribing azithromycin - Australian Prescriber
Azithromycin is generally well tolerated, but relatively common adverse effects (1–5% of patients) include gastrointestinal upset, headache and dizziness. Transient increases in transaminases have also been reported in 1.5% of patients.5Hearing loss or impairment has also been reported with azithromycin, including in patients with COPD and normal hearing at baseline, and appeared to be irreversible in some patients.19,20 Case reports of hearing loss after short-term use have also been published.21
Serious adverse effects include QT prolongation and torsades de pointes resulting in death.
While some people would like to believe that there is a single product that is some sort of magic bullet, the truth appears to be that this drug, like all others has the risk of side effects. Consequently it is probably best administered under medical supervision after consideration of whether the benefits outweigh the risks.

I believe that the fact that medical science is still finding new treatments is proof that all the restrictions put in place over the last couple of years were justified. It avoided things spiralling out of control until medical science found ways to have some semblance of control over the problem.

Control? I just did a Covid vaccine stock report. I haven't had any for months +++
We had two then three vaccine types then. Its now more than 6 of which I have never had 3 as they are just about to appear!

The report takes several NEXT clicks, Enter Zero several times then a drop down box re any vaccines we DONT have expiring in the next few weeks. There is science and there is bureaucratic red tape

    Looking at the new
Moderna Bivalent BA.4—5 12 years+ only as at last it is a single dose vial and doesn't require adding saline to dilute it! The 6 and 10 dose vials required drawing up and dilution - We have a 2nd person Double Checking everything- The cost and time was huge.

    There is a new Pfizer
BA.4 in the report I made for stuff we don't have. While I am reporting it we cannot even order it! That is controlling red tape plus in my view!

A few flu cases just starting so counting every thing for last year and how many people with specific conditions and how many people over 65 and how many.............

This could be in grumpy old buggers
psst 1000 plus flu vax last year

Of interest I could count number of people who go the FLU in 2022. None of them took the option to not get it

A Flu jab for me in about 2 weeks

    Innit it bloomin' marvelous?

It seems only yesterday we were aghast at new cases of 10 or 20 + a few deaths. "We are doomed, doomed I tell you" seemed to be the feeling in the air. "The end is nigh" ****.

Today, we hardly give those figures a 2nd thought unless one is involved with Medical stuff, supply, research etc as are James 1 & 2 & others.

Have we simply become accustomed to these figures,(blas`e ??) as we were overloaded with new stuff each day/hour/minute?

    Just sayin'.

It may be partly for the reasons you suggest, but it may also be because large numbers are tolerable, and even increasing numbers are acceptable as long as they are not increasing exponentially.

Exponential growth is what is truly terrifying. Even the possibility of exponential growth is more of a worry than the sort of numbers we see now.

I think media 'Headlines' and news banners, such as "Horrific Death Toll", "Man Survives Deadly Encounter with Massive, Great White Shark", which in fact was 4' in length (and would grow 3' every hour) and such, are partly to blame.

Every news story these days is so over-dramatised that it beggars belief.
Not to mention the political points scoring.

JT, of course the reports were all about the world being "Doomed"! There's not much to be gained from an objective, factual and educated report, apparently and the pollies can't use their "We're in this for the long haul to save all Queenslanders" rhetoric, if there's no real apocalypse.

The issue is that the situation has completely changed: pre-vaccine even 20 active cases were a risk because they could've triggered an exponential spread, and as a result there would have been a serious number of deaths from that spread. The UK let Covid spread and their current deaths are 220,000 against our 19,459 deaths - so 2.6x the population but 11.3x more deaths .....

Post-vaccines, there are tens of thousands of cases around every day but because of the vaccines the effects for the vaccinated mostly range from "didn't know that I had it" to "bad cold".

But I do wonder who it is that is dying - is it the elderly and those with multiple health issues - or just the unvaccinated? Because 29 people dead in a week would be a lot of unvaccinated people ....
