BEING A POSTE IS A DANGEROUS JOB.

My mate who also is my neighbour is a postie. About 4 years ago he was on his mail run on a Aus post motor bike. He was travelling on the road had just rounded a corner over the road when he was struck by a 4WD from behind. The driver of the 4WD had dropped a drink bottle on floor and was reaching down to grab it and had his eyes off the road and hit my mate. My mate sustained injuries to various parts of his body and had surgery performed.

My mate still quite a bit of pain and takes pain medication every day.
He has bad on restricted duties for some time.

2 weeks ago he was given the green light to return to normal activities.
So a couple days later he was delivering mail to a group of shops and was in the carpark when a car reversed out and hit him knocking him over and ran over his foot.

So now he has screws holding the top foot foot bones together, apparently it's not uncommon that our posties have work place injuries.

Wow. That sucks. Injuries are very common with moto police too.

Our postie is a crap one unfortunately. Bends all the "do not bend" stuff and rips up my nature strip all through winter. He's a grumpy bastard as well. Always scowls at me or the kids.

Loved our Postie- Chris- sadly they moved him to Parcel Delivery and I have yet to chat with our new one.

It can be dangerous walking, Diving, riding, Driving, going to work, sitting down to much. Love life and live it

A postie friend of mine got knocked off his bike. He was supervising a new postie, from behind. A car driver was reversing out of his driveway and carefully waited for the postie to pass. He explained, most apologetically, that he didn't expect two posties.
Same fellow dropped his bike on the gravel, semicircular drive of the official house of the Archbishop, letting out a litany of profanities at the top of his voice. When the Archbishop, himself, came to the door, the irreverent postie apologised profusely. The holy man chuckled and said his language would have been worse, had he crashed a bike.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Next door Nieghbour works for Aust Post - used to be a Postie but had an accident on a run one day and only had one leg now so does something at the mail centre now as he’s not allowed to ride for a living (even though he can with his prosthetic).
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

In the burbs riding a motorbike on the footpath is always going to be problematic.

Yeah ... try being a motorbike courier for 7 out of 10 years too!

Don't matter that you mind your own business just trundling along like all other traffic ... their claim that they "didn't see 'ya" is the management doublespeak way of explaining that they just didn't look!
