Thanks - understand it monitors feed in but does it actually monitor what is being fed in.

So to be clear for example if you got stuck with out adblue if you filled the adblue tank with water which is 67% of adblue content how would the car know??
    Cheers

This is a selective catalytic process with monitoring as part of a closed loop chemical process. At a minimum it has a catalyst temperature sensor and an NOx sensor post-catalyst. Feed it water and the catalyst won't hit its temperature parameters and the NOx will skyrocket. The ECU will notice it's asking for A and getting B as a result.

This is why you'll use more fluid towing than highway driving. More load -> higher temperatures -> more NOx being generated and therefore working the catalyst harder.

Given that a very high percentage is water and that it does go in to engine what would happen if for example you could not get adblue & you just filled container with water??

Probably illegal but better than not having car because you cant get adblue!!!
Adblue does not go into the engine. On Cummins engines it is injected post turbo and pre Catalyst/ muffler system.

On the KW T509 they have a separate guage for adblue, similar to a normal fuel guage. Normally top it up every four days compared to topping up diesel at end of shift.

Re the original video; I recognize that driving style, but thankfully no longer work with 'steering-wheel-attendants' like that..!

Cummins and Volvo can tell if it's Ad-Blue or water, I imagine othet motors do, too.

There are NOx sensors pre and post catalyst. The pre sensor measures the level of NOx being emitted from the engine and adds a predetermined amount of Adblue via injector just before the catalyst. The post sensor will measure the NOx that has passed through and adjust the injected Adblue. These parameters are based on pure Adblue at set rates of urea v water. If the quality changes either by watering it thin or it even being out of date, it will be outside of the set parameters and the vehicle will indicate a "quality" issue and then start following the same detune procedures as if you were or have run out of urea.

Water can also damage the catalyst. These are not cheap!

Had multiple farmers either water down the Adblue to make it go further or left it in the sun (which evaporates the water content) and we always had issues with their systems. Even had to replace a 10k catalyst once..

Apparently all Ad-Blue equipped vehicles are able to moniter the Ad-Blue quality. Interference with the system attracts severe penalties.
There is a world wide shortage of urea, that could become critical early next year.
It's being discussed on the HCVC forum.

That link doesn't go to any report I could find re import/export of Ad-Blue.
I'm wondering why you would be reading about Korean high finance.
