    Recommended LR workshops while touring

We are heading off for a 3 month touring trip and was thinking about a service half way through, Toyota owners are lucky as they have mechanics all over the country that know the cars and happy to work on them, LR owners not so much....
Carnarvon is our half way point , is there a recommended Indie there or close by that can do a service and check over of a Disco 4 that others are happy with.
Anywhere close would also be helpful and feel free to add other destinations and recommendations for other travelers on trips around Aus as the thread ages.
I normally use Greg at AMV in Ringwood and very happy to recommend his services

Wyatts are in Geraldton, a bit short of Carnarvon. I've never used them but heard good things about them.
    Is Karijini on your agenda?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

They are very good - not only for LR, but are also the RACWA breakdown service for the area - and its a big area and responsibility.

We are traveling with friends and not 100% sure on the whole rout yet, we have both been to Karijini before but having said that its a great place and another visit would be good , sadly my Father passed away in a car accident in that area years ago so it would be good to go back.

I thought Carnarvon because that is where our traveling companions are getting their Cruiser serviced so it would be handy to get all that side of stuff done at once.

    Wyatts may be the go

Another vote for Whyatts from me
Fast , Knowledgeable, Efficiant, Freindly service and most importantly NOT overly expensive.

Looking at maps and distances Geraldton is going to be to close to home with only about 7000km into the trip, I was thinking that sort of area because its just before we do about 1400km of dirt with the van in tow from Laverton to Ulara.
Might push the service out to when we get to Alice Springs.
Any recommendations for service centers in Alice

No wonder this will be my last LR as soon as your out of a major city your pretty much on your own and most mechanics in regional WA look at you like you have a disease if you ask them to work on a late model LR...

The Owners Manual that came with my D1 listed a whole heap of Supposedly LR Service joints.

It was worth a fat lot of nothing. The three I had reason to approach around NSW during the life of the vehicle were not even aware that they were listed & knew bugger all about LRs & worse, did not have any Service info at all.. One listed place near Young (??) I called into for a Front end noise had no manuals or anything.
One young bloke there though, did help me because he was also from South Australia, & a stone had got got hung up in the FRH brake disc shield which was there to save having this problem ??????? Go figure.

It seemed it was another well meant but half-baked LR idea that nobody completed.

A later "list"( ???) I obtained re service locations didn't list any at all & today I would doubt still none are listed in the Owner's Manual.

Pretty good for a supposed go anywhere vehicle. NOT.

When I got back home I invested in a complete Workshop Manual. LR were no help at all.
