    "what3words position identifier.

I had never heard of what3words until the radio network I am a member of, VKS-737, sent me a flyer explaining the concept.
Basically the whole world surface is divided into grids of 3 metre squares. Each square given a 3 word identity.
Emergency services have a free app called Emergency + Open that and the 3 words of your current location is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Press the button for the service you want , Police or 000 or SES and speak those 3 words and the service operator knows exactly where you are. Easier than trying to tell them Lat and Long or what the last road sign you saw was.
what3words /// The simplest way to talk about location One can also get the what3words app installed that lets you find anyplace either by the 3words or by name.
    Any others here use it?

I have it. I have yet to find it useful, but I haven't been getting out much of late. Very interesting concept though.

If (&when) I was stuck somewhere the 3 words I would say will probably not be anything like the location words.
I could write them here but what is the point of looking at several *?

what3words included in latest Pivi Pro OTA update

So brilliant to see all the discussion around what3words in the forum, I'm delighted to share that all Land Rover vehicles equipped with the latest version of Pivi Pro have now recieved an over the air update which enables the use of what3words in the navigation system. As a massive Land Rover fan and representative for what3words, please feel free to fire any questions this way!

A brilliant concept. We use it to give the location of solar powered control gear located in an irrigation scheme.

I was treated by Ambos last week for wasp attack. I asked them if they use W3W. Only one of the three had heard of it.
Also instructions are not given how to use it. If one called 000 and just said the three words for ones position, the authorities might think one is talking gibberish. There has to be a explanation before hand.
Example , a Ringer on a large property gets bitten by a snake somewhere in the 1000 acre back paddock. He has a cell phone signal so calls 000.
Whats your position they ask. He says Blackthorn Station, in the back paddock near the small dam. Thats not going to help much so as he has W3W enabled he then should preface his position with "my position with W3W is wagering notepads leave " or whatever , then the ambos know what he is talking about and can find his exact position.

I think its a great system but needs to be publicized more.

I've previously used Eastings and Northings as they can localise you to within a metre. My 20+ yo old Garmin GPS (not a street directory type GPS) is set for that.

Topo maps have both deg min secs or degs & decimal degs as well as Eastings and Northings.

Street directories are also marked in Eastings and Northings.

But this system may be easier.

I just opened the NSW EmergencyPlus app on my phone and, at the bottom, it has my location in W3W.

    It says:

    "My Location
    Tell the operator your location"

then it has my address, lat, long and W3W
