Series 3 on it's way to the Eastern Suburbs ( Railway )

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I could only find a dedicated site for videos.

This is a works vehicle about to enter the Eastern Suburbs Railway, on the 1st of March, 1979.

Needless to say, not my photo.

Earliest days of LPG conversions, with roof-mounted LPG tanks. What could possibly go wrong?

D2dave and I were discussing that very issue, yesterday.

Probably gunna start a fight over whether the County is a Defender. Seems to be a bit of ambiguity there, at least in the parts books. Then there's the Stage One....

Series 3 was available in Australia with a 2.25 petrol or diesel 4, early production 2.6 petrol 6, and later 3.5 petrol V8 or 3.9 Isuzu diesel 4. (The V8 effectively replaced the six.)

Defender was originally only available with the 2.5 Tdi 200 diesel. Between Series 3 and Defender was the Landrover 110, similar to the Defender. In Australia it was only sold with the same V8 or Isuzu diesel used in the late S3.

Note that the 2.5 petrol and diesel engines developed from the 2.25, and the turbo 2.5 were never sold in Australia. Nor was the Landrover 90 nor the Defender 90 until about 2000.

You would think a long term AULRO member would at least get the Land Rover model correct.

That is a Land Rover Series 3, 109 hardtop.

It also looks like it has wheel spacers as I can't see the poky out hubs
    Regards
