Airline web site has a 'lost baggage FAQ' page which ends with words to the effect "if your questions are not answered here then ring this No. to speak to someone". That number has recorded voice which says if you have questions refer to the lost baggage FAQ website.

Bookings side of the business - very well resourced with actual people you can talk to. Complaints side of the business - resourced by automated robots who made even robots look stupid. I think the strategy for handling complaints is to ignore them and maybe people will give up and stop annoying them.
Sounds a bit like The " Not My Job" bloke has changed jobs.

Hit with a Genuine complaint that is the sort of crap that comes out of their mouths. "Admit nothing & lets see how far they want to take it, stuff. Don't fret if you think they are right, admit nothing, They will eventually go away". Attitude is not only Airlines but business generally these days it seems with the exception of Heather of course.

Last September I flew to Japan. First International flight. Went with a mob based out of Manila it was their main carrier. Got a very good price on flights. Soon learnt why. Got to the airport for my return flight to find it canceled. I should have checked before hand but did not and soon found I could not have. There was a flight much later in the night. There is no permanent representative for this air line at the airport, there is no online contact service, there is no phone contact ( it would not have helped if there was as I had data only with my phone) There was a chat bot service that had no clue. So I had no way of finding out if I was on a plane leaving in six hours. Not wanting to take the chance as I still also would have had to transfer in Manila. So I went over to the Jet star desk which had a vast number of Jet star people wandering about. Got a flight back leaving in a hour. Such is travel and I was on holidays, so not too bothered. Just the extra cost of a flight back. The lesson learnt, go cheap but not too cheap.

I'm absolutely with Dennis on this one but I'll be dragged along again and again. Relos overseas need to be visited. There will be no relief until the actual Terminus.
    Cheers, Billy.

Last domestic flight I did was with them. Melb Bris. Couple of days before Christmas, all I could get. Just as bad as I remember from the other time when I swore never again. Lousy service, running around checking nobody had a fag paper too much in their carry on. 40 minutes late departure, and the plane was at the gate at least 30 mins before the due time. Sure, things happen, but it only takes a sec to pick up a mic and tell people.

Back in August I did the same flight the other way, with REX. Didn't know they did the major routes. Chalk and cheese. Great service, good coffee!!!!! Didn't care about carry on, and spot on time departure and an early arrival ( prolly they aren't in charge of the wind though.). Definitely use them again if necessary.

For international we generally fly QANTAS,and are yet to have an issue,or a hold up.

I remember being held up in Thialand many years ago, with Garuda.
A look out the terminal window told us why, they were working on one of the engines on the plane, the covers were off,and about 8 people with all sorts of tools and equipment were in attendance.
Anyway,2 hours later we boarded and had a non eventfull flight back to Brisbane.

Reminds me of the occasion many years ago, when I was working in the Simpson. While waiting at Adelaide airport for our delayed departure in a DC6B, I, and the other waiting passengers, had a front seat view of a complete engine change!

And like you, we had an uneventful flight, only about three hours late from memory.

REX seem quite busy over here mainly DC9 or 727 or both ??? They also do a lot of mining contracts with FI/FO which seem to keep them busy here plus all their intrastate Routes with the Italian Turbo-props.

There is always One or Two showing up on my screen. Mount Gambier to Ceduna. No not a particular flight just what they cover from SE & West.

Last August I flew from Syd-GC with Rex. The flexstar flight was leaving I think it was 10 mins before our flight left.
While waiting I had some McD's and I saw both flexstar and the Rex planes come in and park in there respective slots, exactly opposite each other.
Boarded the flight and we took off on time. Flight was pleasant and we landed 5 mins early.
As we were walking towards the terminal the flexstar flight was just pulling into its parking spot.
I couldnt see whether the flexstar flight had left as I was on the wrong side of of the plane to check if it had left.
Have only flown once with flexstar and I vowed never again.

    cheers
    DG
