Prolly none. Doesn't mean they didn't have a place back then though.

Strange that you mention that. Just over the SA's Eastern Border between Murrayville & Underbool sitting in the middle of a Road Plantation there used to be 5 or 6 Rusting Tank Hulls sans Turrets I assume for that reason. I recall seeing them waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when passing through the small town & they were still there about 35 years ago so not long at all in the scheme of things.

Not only those but when we moved to the hills here 36 years ago there was a row of about 8 Armoured Scout Cars with Turrets, lining the roadside bank acting as a Front fence. They went aprox. 20 years ago. To where? No-one seems to know, but to some 3rd world Country or Museums or Scrapyards I guess.

Just out of my curiosity I would be interested to know if the Tank Hulls are still there if anyone from here is passing through those places.

About ten years ago this thing was at Coomandook. Was there for a while. Think someone must have nicked it though, cos it disappeared.

Like to see them put it up a pole, like the Land Rover at Keith.....

Thats what I call a Tank. Some POLE! A nicked at 0200 when all was quiet job.

Post war saw the development of the "90 mile Desert" for Soldier Settlement it may have another name but to South Aussies it has always been "The 90 mile desert" a forbidding section of road & back then it was just graded Stone/gravel rough as a Monky's arse & corrugated to buggery.

Maybe said Tank was someone's choice as a Fergie Grey Tractor.

I did a couple of Scout Bus Trips to the Grampians "Overnighters". Never have forgotten those over that bloody road.

Actually it was seen as a bit of adventure, a bit like the Nullabor Plains in it's day.

That tank was part of a Military collection on the block. You could say the owner "Stewart" was a "Wheeler Dealer" or Military Collector. The last time I saw the tank onsite it had a For Sale sign on it and all other Military items had been removed. It looks similar to the one undercover alongside the Highway in Keith which is ex the Vietnam War (West of the pole Landrover).
The shed behind was the longtime local mechanics workshop, and the shed to left is the old super phosphate shed from the Rail Yard mysteriously transported intact across the road by some enterprising young fellas. Enough said about that !!!!
    Regards
