Today my dishwasher refused to work. Water inlet problem.. Miele, so anything is $$$. Decided to check the type of valve to see if I can fit a cheap one from something else. Short answer would be yes, but while looking I pulled the inlet hose a little further through the wall and found the cable that operates the valve severed by bloody 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀. Ok, bit of solder, some tape and a box of rat bait. Cheaper than a new valve.

you'd think one person wouldn't need a DW. But I paid a motza for it for Jan, and I'm damn well going to use it... for now.

Bloody Rats and mice, what a pain they can be.
We have had 5 insect screens chewed through in the last few months by rats.Three windows and two doors.
The Pup we have needs a bit of rodent training, the last dog we had was excellent at catching them.
Anyway,we can't use break back traps as the dog is around, and we have possums around as well.
I have a couple of Elliotte traps that i inherited from the old man, they catch them live and are good, but an old rat will never go into them. The old adults are very smart.I often catch younger rats in them even with no bait.
The only thing that gets the older ones is bait and i try to use the bait that won't cause secondary poisoning.
i also have to put it out in a way the dog and possums can't get it.
Possums love the stuff, and it does kill them sometimes.
Three of the screens are going to be changed to security screens,so they wont be able to chew through them any more.
They other two we will fix them and shut those windows at night,so should be OK.
Lots of bush around our place,so that encourages rats and mice.
Carpet snakes are the best at keeping them away, but SWMBO doesn't like them around as they often get into the house
I have no pets here to worry about, and the possums can't get in to where the rats are so bait is fine for me.
My lovely next door neighbour keeps guinea pigs, so the carpet snake idea is probably a non starter, even if they liked the climate here.
Dishwasher is working well
Edit: I used to hate the idea of poison. Seemed like dirty pool. I spent $$$ on traps. Until I found rats had been on mum's bed..... That fixed that.
Anyone want to buy some rat traps??

There is no love lost for mice around my place, especially after one irrepairably damaged my F&P french door fridge.
