524085 Phoenix. But I have all receipts from new and original logbook and handbook - was delivered 9/10/1981 and sold through Auto Centre Leyland in Mount Gravatt, Brisbane.

I have an old Series 3 Stage 1 its done a genuine 90000km in 24 years with the first 19 years it did about 10000 ks and in the last 5 years its one 80000 km.
I have replaced pretty well everything put a detroit locker in the back.
Great old vehicle can be a %&))$ to drive around town but its good in the bush.




I am thankful that its on LPG.

It is good to see that there are others out there that share the same sickness, I have found the whole Landrover thing very addictive.
I originally bought my 82 109 hardtop as a nastalgic thing as I had mentioned in my intro, with a plan to travel with it in particular to do Tassie this November. Several of the guys at work work are into a bit off roading and since the end of summer I have take the landy out into the bush several times, with last weekend effort being the most extreme. I am now of two minds as I enjoy the off road stuff but I feel like I am ruining (dents, scratches and running gear) a Series 3 that in really good condition.

Project list:
Fairey OD - done
Tyres - After Olympic Steeltrek's x 3, any hint's second hand with 80% plus tread will do.
Sound proofing - November
CD player - Just got to get of my bum and fit
Parabolic springs - on the way, should be complete around November
Safari roof with alpine windows - November
Deluxe seats - If I can source I would like to do by March, any hints

Also the missus hates it, but the kids love it.

Any one with parts in the Geelong area please PM me as i am a bit of a horder.

what else are you going to do with it ? look at it?
use and abuse - they look soooo much better with dints 'n scratches.
also - chicks dig scars.

I have owned 5 Series Landies,I still have a project in my shed,to radical to licence in WA,a lot of work done but a lot to finish.Im under PRESSURE from the missus to sell it off but Im hoping the LOTTO GOD smiles upon me and I will race it in off road racing.
1979 Ser3 109 ute.Ford 302 Cleveland(a sad worn out motor that flies,if I race it it will become a full on 351) Ford C4 auto,4 inch body lift,2 inch suspension plus army hangers.3" 6cyl drums up front,custom gauge pad.Piles of $$$$ spent not wanting to quit it.

Andrew you like me are to far to quit, what will you mate up to the c4, I am going to try an LT230 conversion, I have some good fitters I deal with. I have run a ford top loader to series 3 transfer in the past. The transfer is stong enough, however the hard facing is gone very quickly, so every 12 months I have replaced the tranfer gear set and every 2 years the shafts. It's hard to believe that the series tranfer can take 300 odd HP. it has also taken 500hp thats 500 real HP from my new engine. the clutch takes a hiding, Diaken extreme. the best they had at the time. the new engine will pull the front wheels off the deck in high range on the dirt, so thats testiment to the old series transfer. I did replace the bottom plate with a 3mm thick plate and this I think has taken much of the twist from the transfer housing. I have a c4 ready to go with 4800 stall converter so may be Ok. Nissan diffs are what I use, Just got sick of replacing the front diff. about 12 diffs in 2 years.

The old clevo is good but a windsor is about 50 kg lighter if you can get one of these.
