Yep the GREENS lost seats over here. I was in an agri supply place and the fellow at the counter was thinking of having a "GREENS lost seats" sale!
Haha the sparklander. I like it
Anyway, not holding my breath on the other side of the pond. It seems they are going to up the maximum speed on the highway again since the greens capped it but I do not see much rollback other than that happening.
We are not the demographic for landrover at all any more since 2016 at least. EV or not.

Because car companies, run by accountants and marketers, are so stupid that they invest billions in products people don't want? Really?
I was at the Tokyo Motor Show last year and the biggest crowds there were on the BYD stand - 6 or 7 people deep around every vehicle, and it was BYD's EVs that were of biggest interest. In contrast the Japanese manufacturers - and Tokyo is supposed to be their home show - had a fraction of the interest and crowds. They also had bugger-all EVs and looked clueless. QED. It was interesting because I first went to the Tokyo Motor Show in the early 90s, so over 30 years ago, and at that time the Japanese manufacturers were doing new and interesting things, and all the major international car companies were there - in 2023 most of the foreign manufacturers didn't even bother attending and the display area was, at a rough guess, half what it used to be. I think it would be fair to conclude, from the reactions of the Japanese enthusiasts at the Tokyo Motor Show, that the Japanese market (which is at least 3 times bigger than Australia's) do want EVs - it's just that since the Japanese manufacturers aren't building them, and Chinese vehicles haven't been available, they can't buy them.

Some might want them, however it seems that VW has pulled a massive amount of it's EV development budget and relocated it to ICE development in stead. Guess that JLR did not get that memo yet and it also seems the Japs, as usual, probably know what they are doing

Of course, edicts from the EU, the British Government, POTUS et al had absolutely zero effect on the decisions made by said accountants and marketers. Obvious really. Why didn't we all se it?
Pushback against the edicts is gathering pace rapidly. The reason there were few EVs at Tokyo is that the Japanese manufacturers are, as always, smarter than ROW. When the real market, rather than the manipulated by edict one, decides EVs are the go then they will take their place. The current state of the tech, particularly battery, suggests that's a long way off. Cars are a way too big investment to be a throwaway item, and while baterry replacement is around the same cost as a new car that's what EVs are.
The only reason Tesla got anywhere was massive subsidies from the administration of the 44th POTUS.

Hang on ... I'm not a hater. I don't hate electric cars, I just hate stupidity being screamed at me .... even worse is trying force/mandate stupidity on me. Nope, won't do it. The more
they try to force me, the less success they will have. nearly every aspect of the electric car for the masses is just ludicrous. This doesn't mean I don't like them, I just don't like stupidity.

Things are actually lookup up for those that want an electric car. the issue is, those that want them have now purchased one. This was the easiest thing in the universe to predict. Who would have thought the masses would look at something that has the immense drawbacks of an electric car .... and say "no way, not me". Its sad to see them piling up around the world un-able to be sold. If you want one.... just keep waiting. lithium batteries deteriate quite rapidly, so all those cars currently sitting, they will get cheaper and cheaper and cheaper .... as the manufacturers warranty will fall outside the battery life if they sit to long.
So just wait say, 6 months. You'll have your choice of very cheap fully electric car. Just make sure you have given it away/got rid of it before the battery completely expires. I can see the current owners in 5 years time being held responsible for the safe disposal of the battery (which will probably cost a tremendous amount of money given how extraordinarily dangerous massive lithium batteries can be).

Was reading an article the other week on tesla batteries and how they are warranted for 7 years at a certain percentage point but many are not making it to the three year mark without falling below that percentage point and Tesla has to replace them

Tesla Vehicle Batteries Degrade Under 65% of Rated Range After Only Three Years
Its really hard to find good hard data. there is the anti-electric car mob .... and the deranged greenies that will refuse to allow anything negative be said and scream you down like a group of psychopaths ... This article appears to be based on real data (unlike all the fanciful claims by the zealots about battery life). however notice they say "claimed range" in the comparison. well telsa has lied about that, so the battery degradation if actually far less than the stats show if you use the "real" range as the start point.
Like I said, I'm not anti-electric car, I'm anti-stupidity. My biggest concern is how the hell are we as a population going to handle ... what are we at now ? 40million big, potentially extraordinarily dangerous aging lithium batteries. The recycling of these is a pipe dream if you dig a bit. I think we'll have to bury them for safey so they don't torch themselves off and burn everything around them.
