With the correct preparation, plus the amount of "Iconic Induced' people doing it these days, I would be willing to do it solo.

The main proviso would be that I had my D1, not my D3!

Thanks, Steve. I would be in my OKA. If I can get a mortgage for the diesel. OKA is as simple as a D1.

Would you not take the D3? I thought touring was their thing...

Actually looks like a good trip, except you wound up back in Qld....

Just kidding, I think Qld is my destination at some point, although not as I had hoped.

You fell off the edge of the world, on the right hand side.
Are you proposing a solo trip with John? Can I come too?

I did the Simpson (Madigan line) in May with one other vehicle. I have only done the Simpson this one time.

Madigan line - we didn’t see another vehicle 5 days roughly)

French Line / QAA - 15 vehicles in one day.

People did say that the Madigan Line is becoming more popular - people trying to avoid the masses.

Having said that - looking at the visitor books, even on the Madigan line people came every 2-3 days.

If you stick to the French Line / QAA - I would travel it solo without concern in a well prepared vehicle.

Am I correct in assuming you mean 'East'?

Depends, are you a person who orientates the map to the faced direction, or always has north at the top.

North always to the top............................which is why I get annoyed with a lot of architectural plans.

Back on topic. On my trip I was having a coldie with a family Dad, who said he kept his kiddies occupied by instructing them to count the number of sandhills they encountered.

Back off topic, I prefer a digital map to display the direction of travel to the top, but real (paper) maps should always have north to the top.

My last trip was two years ago when I went up the Hay River track. I got sick of ducking back and forth all the time across the creek bed.
Lake Caroline was an interesting place to visit though.

    Its time I went again.
