The parts thing is a US requirement - you should have no real issues importing it into Aust as a whole vehicle however getting it registered may be a different issue - I would bring any previous registration documents you have of the vehicle being registered in Canada in its current configuration - in NSW a good authorised would be able to advise and walk you through the roadworthy process and sign off on mods.
Why not buy a series 1 here and modify with the help of an engineer. Probably cheaper than what you have to bring out and get on the road.
