You might need one of those alarms like 4bee has, incase you fall and break something or hit your head. My brother has low BP and was even taken to hospital once when he passed out at a pub, IIRC the doctor said he should eat more frequently to keep his BP/ blood sugar up.

Not quite there yet thankfully. I'm counting on it all settling down. My body has a helluva lot to get used to, with more to come. And one thing I definitely don't want is more blood sugar, it's already higher than they like. I am trying to reduce it. But the hospital was always on at me to drink more water. I've always had BP in the lower part of "normal".

Funny, I gave up drinking 30 months ago. Falling and hitting my head was very likely back then.

That is the reason I bought the Fall Alarm. Now I am alone here with Carole gone, it seemed a sound investment 'cos I could wait for days for someone to come past & down my 300m driveway & shielded by bush, otherwise.

Of course it isn't just to detect falls as it contains an Accelerometer which supposedly records if the fall is aprox 76cm. You can let someone know you is in strife but I haven't used it in anger yet but I test it on going to bed & getting up after I shower. (also is waterproof) IMHO it is worth the moneyespecially as you can have a 2 way handsfree conversation . Daughter has rung me a few times while in a supermarket.

I'm not against the idea. I got a thing from a mob called MEPACS for mum. It wasn't a fall alarm as such, it required her to press a button, something she did quite a few times. They monitored, and called a list of numbers in descending order, I was first. If there was no response they called 000. They required her to test the thing daily. She could speak directly to them, but nobody else. Worked whether the power was on or not, important here. Good service and free, but obviously no use if she lost consciousness.

I am generally still active, and my dizziness, well lack of balance, is likely to be the effects from the radiotherapy ( seriously bad fatigue ), or the whole regime of new drugs, or a combination of both. It is expected to get better when he rt ceases and my body adjusts to the drugs. That last may be longer than I hope as they are adding two more soon.

I'll look into it though, Des. I too am alone.

I haven't read right through the complete thread, but geez,Tins,it seems you have been through hell.
Hopefully it all settles down soon.

My mother had one of those fall alarm things,it was remotely monitored. She lived alone.
The morning she fell she didn't have it on her.
They wouldn't have been able to do much anyway, not many survive after have two strokes, particularly at her age.

So those that have them, make sure it is on ALL the time.

Yes. One of mum's mates fell getting out of the shower. She nearly died, lying there with a broken hip and nobody around. She was never the same. Mum asked why she didn't press her button. Took the thing off for the shower, totally defeating the purpose.

I haven't been through that much in comparison to many. But I would prefer to have missed this bus.

Knocked over is not the same as falling over.

Too true. Hi Paul, wheres yer bin? Around the world cruise???

The correct answer is supposedly, " I'se been on the bed with me lover, wheres youse bin?" That was a wheelie bin "joke" inquiring why the bloke hasn't put his bin out?

Right, back to a piece of sanity. (Disco Grade) Too true I wear mine everywhere , it was puzzling when I first wore it; on my chest under a short sleeve Summer shirt & I sensed eyes were on me when I went out? On the Module there are 3 tiny lamps that function when ever there is a reason. IE. RED Battery cond. SAT. & Tech test Blue Operating. Green

I eventually discovered people were seeing the flashing of the Green lamp through the cotton shirt which is no bad thing really. Just not in a shop or restaurant. I don't care now. Maybe they thought it was a countdown for a Heart attack?

You should have stuck your arm out horizontally, calling out "exterminate, exterminate!"
