Waiting for your new Landrover? A hiccup plus

    Might take a bit longer..

"Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has said its UK factories will remain closed until next week after the carmaker was hit by a cyber attack at the end of last month.Production halted at the plants in Solihull, Halewood and Wolverhampton with workers sent home following the hack, which came to light on 1 September.
The company, which usually builds 1,000 cars a day, said some data had been affected but it is not yet clear who is affected - whether that's customers, suppliers, or JLR itself.
Staff have been told not to come into work until Wednesday at the earliest, which means more than two full weeks of global output will have been lost."

1000 by 10 is a LOT of Landies not built

Perhaps not only affecting new car production. Posts on UK forums are starting to appear saying JLR unable to supply UK dealers with parts for warranty repairs etc. citing delays of the order of 'weeks to many weeks'.

    A. Companies that big still getting hacked is concerning to say the least
    B. This .... is getting ridiculous. (the cyberwarfare that is)

I wonder how well protected their new (hideously looking btw) Jaguar is going to be

    Cheers,

Not only the UK. I received an email from Whyatt Land Rover in Geraldton on Monday last week saying they were unable to carry out warranty work or order any genuine parts. I was there for urgent repairs in June.
I’m Sydney based and am able to get parts at the moment from BMI and KLR which are just down the road.
    Cheers

Wait! It’s in Britain so that would be a “hiccough”, not a “hiccup”.

I was talking to an LR parts supplier yesterday and it’s also affected access to JLR on-line parts catalogue so he can’t check for parts.

    I suggested he try LRCAT.COM

LR shut-down its world-wide parts supply system which includes parts supply to production facilities the morning after the attack and it won't be available again until they can be sure that the system is safe to use.

Wouldn't it be ironic if it was an Indian scammer?

Last week I had to exchange a wrong part from the LR dealer I use for parts when I want genuine; I had ordered a R/H threaded tie-rod end and they had supplied a L/H threaded one. The usual parts bloke was off sick. His stand-in told me he couldn't get onto the LR system to order the right part. Once I had told him the correct part number, he was able to order and get the part, but it seems their online catalogue was shut down.
