They did....very briefly back in 1988. From memory they had a Bi-centenary version of the County 110 V8. You still see some running around, although they are very rare.Originally Posted by scrambler
While they look great, the load space in the back is not great.

I'm not really sure I see the point, all you are doing is reducing your load space. I suppose you can carry stuff you wouldn't want inside the vehicle, and it's more accessible, but also more accessible to thieves.
It's a defender thing no one else will under stand.Originally Posted by Frenchie

There was a special batch made for the Australian Bicentennial Authority in 1987-88, these were V-8s. I believe they were briefly available here a couple of years ago, but I haven't actually seen one - but then new Defenders of any kind are pretty rare away from the major cities. It is difficult to see why anyone would prefer one to either the wagon or the 130 dual cab. The only reason I can think of is if you really don't want something as big as a 130, but need both five seats and the ability to carry hazardous materials such as farm chemicals - they are getting a lot tougher on this sort of thing these days, and you are not allowed to carry in the passenger compartment things such as chemicals, gas bottles above a certain size, more than 10l petrol etc. The rules have been there for some time, but they are beginning to be enforced. Despite this, most people with this need will go for something with a bigger tray area - either the single cab 110 or the 130 either single or dual cab.Originally Posted by scrambler
And the problem is that with Defender sales pretty slow anyway, why have more different ones?
But in answer to your question - they have been sold here.

The dual cab 110's we bought out in the Uk after the uk tax department made it that a car, that could 1 ton in the back would not come under company car tax. Which in the UK is very high. Land Rover saw the toyotas and Mit's and ford ones were selling so rushed out a 110 version. WAS and is very popular.Originally Posted by scrambler
BTW the company car tax rules was also why there was and is a Disco Van avaible. You did not need to pay company car tax on a Van
Thing you need to know. In the UK if they can tax you for it they will. Why do you think i am here![]()
