Does anyone know anything about lepidopterology?

Nearly every night we find these tiny moths in our shower recess. There is only ever one.

I’ve never seen one this small before. No idea where they’re coming from or how they get in.

Today I found one in the laundry (this one).

Only that it relates to things that flutter by.

We never see them flutter by, only resting on the tiles.

I guess it's a high speed flutter, then. More of a flit.

I know it is not the study of leopards. I think that butterfly collectors just gave it the name to make it sound more exciting.

I doubt they would get past the trap in the drain?

Drain fly. Larvae lives in the traps and pipes. Sometimes called sewer flies or sludge flies. Years and years ago, I lived in a small cottage with an old waste system. Plagued by them coming in up through the pipes into the separate wash house and bath tub as it was very close to the waste tank. Problem abated when the septic tank was cleaned out.
