    Point of fact :
Soft Roaders are not real 4WDs, so should not even be on the list.

I don't give a stuff about the other 9 because I know Land Rover is number one.

If a publication shows anything else they have been bribed or mislead by Bull.

You have to give them credit for patriotism, the first 5 are Red White and Blue - American only then do they get to the imports. Given the same patriotism and the 1776 war of independance it is lucky that the RR got to number 7. The only cars that rated lower came from Japan who sunk the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbour.

Shall we discuss what happened from the Battle of Midway and afterwards? Perhaps Bismarck Sea, Phillipine Sea, Leyte Gulf, the Japanese Home Islands Campaign, the total destruction of the Japanese merchant fleet, The almost total destruction of Japanese major cities and industrial capacity. Also, Land Rover literature would have been printed in German if not for U.S. industrial capacity. Remember, Kaiser's liberty ships, B17's, B24, 25, 26's. P38, 40, 51's. LST's LSI's,Packard, Allison, Pratt & Whitney, 400,000 Jeeps, 2,225,000 GM 6x6, countless spark plugs, condoms, hand tools, tinned foods, umpty-ump miles of Marston matting, and over ten million servicemen. In the 1970's Chevrolet were making 10,000 small blocks per day, & the Buick V6
(Commodore) was being turned out at 7,000 per day at peak. Rover bought the Buick/Olds aluminium V8 about 1966, a then modern engine, designed in the late fifties, and made in state of the art new plants. Rover then found they couldn't make it, and had to redesign the engine to build it in their antiquated (1928) engine plant. The Yanks are the world's biggest market place. Everyone has to sell into America to survive.

I'm have 2 RRs, but in no way do I think they are the best 4wd.

In fact, I can't judge them.
Having never driven a Kia, or a Lada, or a Patrol, or a BMW, or a VW, etc I can't say what is best (or good or bad).

Sometimes people should take the blinkers off and open their eyes.

Nope never driven a Kia, skateboard or a tricycle off-road and although the last two seem slightly more appealing I don’t think I’d part with cash for any of them

I think the Kia looks only slightly less capable off road than a skateboard so lets have a look at the Kia with blinkers off:

Ground clearance :8 inches – whats that about the height of two house bricks
    Selectable 2/4wd whooo!
Full time 4wd, (optional extra though)
    No CDL
Quote “harsh ride over sharp bumps” hmmm that would be handy off-road!

I think my 81’ rangie would beat the kia to a pulp.
Now compare the Kia to a 2005 RR:

    Dynamic Stability Control
    Hill Descent Control
    Electronic Air Suspension
    Traction Control
    terrain-recognition
    electronic CDL

That’s just what I can think of I’m sure the list would be longer.
Oh yer and lets see if 70 percent of Kia’s made are still on the road in 30 or so years time.

I don’t think it was said that Landy’s were the best but anyone who tries to tell you that a Kia is BETTER than a RR off road is off their head and really if they think that they should by one and leave landy’s for those of us who can appreciate them.

I think I’ll have my blinkers back on and sit back in my RR and smile.

    The "list"

    Hi Folks,
I just wanted to make a couple of points:

    1) The list was in alphabetical order and does not represent ability.

    2) The list was for "off highway" capability.

Having been in the USA a lot, the latter could mean dirt road use!

    Cheers,
    Rob
