1977 Series 3 LWB... was dads it was garaged with a lazy donk... repaired and given as a 19th birthday present.

Never really needed my own car in perth public transport and a Mountain bike or doing DD in other peoples cars did me pretty well

but I was hooked from about 8

1974 Series III 109 hard top (where it all began). Basically stock.

My father and his mate half owned it each and we used to go camping in it growing up. They re-built it when the chassis rotted out I then bought his mate's half share when I went to uni.

During wet weather I pulled quite a few people out of dodgy University of Qld carparks but since I don't drink I was unable to really capitalise on the rewards for this service. I also had my first prang in it when some bozo did a U-turn in front of me travelling at 60km/hr. When the ambulance arrived they didn't realise that the Landrover was one of the vehicles involved. The other guy's car (a Holden Gemini) was bent into a "V" shape and the Landrover only had a broken grille and busted headlight. When my dad arrived to collect me (the Landrover was not drivable since the unseen damage was a bent chassis rail) several onlookers commented that they should get one for their kids to drive to uni in.

1965 toyota corona , rolled it 2 months after i got it.

repaired and back on the road , clocked it at 105mph (170 kph) coming back from old surfers paradise drags ..sh*ts were trumps , never did that again.

took it on the sand at rainbow beach before people even knew the place existed, on way back conked out crossing a washout and settled down to the subframe, took 2 professional fishermen daisy chained army blitz and old land rover to skull drag it out ...tore off the exhaust system so we drove from Rainbow Bch to Brissie with a straight out of exhaust manifold...what a hoot when youre only 20 yo.

we tore the seats out, stripped up carpet and hosed her out....no worries.

in 1969 i drove it to Darwin and left it in a guys yard for 12 months while i worked on Arhnemland.
when i came back, 4 flat tyres, seized brakes and clutch, and covered in black mould. after shelling out a small fortune in repairs , drove back to Brissie and sold it 2 yrs later.........not a skerrick of rust....they built em good in those days....sigh!
