    Question for the tyre experts?

Difference between Cooper ATR LT and passenger construction.

Is it mainly comfort. Any other differences.

I would think it would be load caring capacity.

Passenger construction tyres have no place on a 4wd - period...

Unless its one of them latte sipping, mall crawling, soccer game attending Beemers, Mercs, VWs etc...

aww now saying they have no place is a little bit harsh....

(although I generally agree but want to play devils advocate here)

the extra suppleness of the sidewalls and tread belts will help you on sand, shale and rocks.

That said, those advantages are usually well and truely offset by the lessened life of the tyre at lower pressures, proneness to fatal damage on the sidewalls and genarally lower overall load bearing ability and ply count.

IMHO if you already have them keep them, when its time to replace them evaluate the life you got out of them or what you did to kill them. If your likely to abuse them in the same way again switch to the LT constructions.

As a bonus the LT's are usually a little cheaper if you go for something thats fairly common.
