You know, I think that part of the problem is that the bottom seems to have fallen out of the market for DI andDII across the board. (there was a post somewhere here very recently that was quoting some really low prices for these vehicles).

I suspect that the net effect of this for many LR owners who have invested in their vehicles (as most of us do with keeping up with LR faults (ouch) and after market gear ) is that we have put so many $ into our 'babies' that we do not want to sell as we would take the proverbial financial bath. I know in my case that the Landy still owes me (to my calcs) over 35K even after six years use from new.
I'd agree. My mate and I were discussing this today after being really disappointed at how sh!te this particular one was.

He's not after something for nothing, but he's certainly not after getting his pocket warmed.

Utemad - I know he won't be keen on shopping away from home. Too much trouble I think.

Feral - I'll be in touch about yours via PM.

    Turtle - same applies!

    Thanks guys.

I found it easier to widen the search myself. I got sick and tired of looking in the car sale sites only to find myself looking over the same old cars that were never going to sell at those prices. Plus I was after a specific spec (base model) which seemed failry uncommon.
If my work wasn't so flexible though it would have been difficult to go on a weekday to buy the car (need banks and RTA to be open).

I am seriously thinking of parting with my V8 01 Disco - 66000K's, leather, woodgrain trim and a 7 seater with the auto height adjust in the rear @ $23500.00

    Yeah, G'day all.

    Finally got around to registering.

I am the one who is in the market for a GOOD Disco series 1.

I want a 96-98 MDL, V8 auto with gas if possible. Under 150,000 Klms

    Would like the following features.

RUST FREE, I am sick of looking at "perfect" rusty discos!

    Bullbar, Raised or H/D suspension.
    Cargo barrier.

Any color but that horrible cherry red!

If you know of something that fits the bill let me know. I will pay a reasonable dollar for the right vehicle.

    Thanks all,

    Wello

G'day Wello, spotted a dark green series one just a couple of km south of Grantham on the Bass Hwy on my way to Phillip Island the other week. Didn't stop but it looked completely stock with alloys and the sticker price was $8500. Unsure whether V8 or Tdi etc but looked very clean. Anyone down that way able to get further info?

Ive been seriously thinking of selling mine but your right the bottom has collapsed on discos so unless i want to take a hiding on the sale price then i just have to stick with it. It still owes me 17k and theres no way im getting that on selling it. Im right on the edge of deciding to stick with it and go nuts on the customisation or bail into a county???????????? I love the interior of the disco but hate the exterior. I love the interior and exterior of the countys but 3.9's are hard to find. The disco is a tdi auto aswell that doesnt help me appreciate it. Especially at traffic lights.

I think the gas rebate has helped keep the good ones off the market aswell, its now cheaper to get gas fitted and keep them than it is to sell them without it. One of the parents of a kid i used to teach picked up a nice tidy 93 model pre-update D1 at auction for $3500 not that long ago and there are now crap loads of D1's cruising around lithgow.
