Agree i had a mate who bought one and we spent weeks trying to get it to work ,in all differant types of soil and everything. But wil no avail. Gave up in the end as the only way we could get it to work was jam in behind a tree and use it that way. Which sort of defeeted the object of it
So it went on Ebay and another sucker bought it, and he got one like mine.

I carry 3 fence droppers, 12 100x10 mm steel pins, rope, 3 pieces of old radiator hose, and all inside 100 mm PVC pipe. All cost me something about $25. Fence droppers from hardware shop for $2.95 each. Different sizes, lengths, qualities available.
Used 3 to get winched myself from swamp, several times used only 1 in sand just to assist and get couple meters move.
Advantages: they don't move like any other anchor, convenient to carry, go and buy anywhere, cheap setup.
Disadvantages: sometimes difficult to pull out, can be bended, takes time to prepare setup for use.
Cheers,
Ruslan

The Danforth Anchor might get one of them little Suzuki things out of bother. But it would need to be a pretty sturdy job to anchor a Deefer or a Disco. The flukes on the Danforth are designed to dig deep into a sandy sea bottom, as the vessel is gently put astern. To break the Danforth free, you must actually motor slowly over the anchor, to break it out of the sea bottom like a pick or mattock.
A good sturdy log, dug well down, across the line of pull, a lead trench for your winch line, so that the rope doesn't lift your anchor up, and haul away me lads. My old Admiralty Seamanship manual, probably has a mathematical formula for the size of log, the depth of trench, etc, for the load to be shifted.
Don't have a winch fitted, carry several lengths of good sturdy rope, and a couple of sturdy block and tackle rigs. 3 "truckies" hitches tied in any rope, and haul. The result? A parted rope.
Some alloy expanded mesh sounds like a good idea, alloy angle sides for bracing, maybe 4 sections that can lock together, light to load and carry.
Shorty.
Here is a pick of my ground anchor mounted on the back of my old 90. Its on the left side on the top of the rear boxes. As you can see folds up small
And my brothers one , which is the same in use to try and recover his 90 on a stage . follow the front winch cable to where the anchor is at the end (at about 1 o'clock in the pic)

Hey Drut,
If you do a thread search for sand ladders you should come up with some good info.
Cheers
Simon.
Well no, as it turns out there aren't any good threads to be found. Must have been lost in one of the changes.
There were two good threads covering sand ladders.
Guess we have to hope that someone remembers them.
Cheers
Simon.
