The other way to cut bottles is to fill with oil to the desired level, then plunge a red hot steel rod into the oil. The glass tends to crack at the oil/air interface. Not done it myself yet, mind you. But have seen it demonstrated.

My dad made preserving jars out of beer bottles by tying a piece of string around where he wanted it sheared off. Apply metho to the string, light it, then let it cool when it goes out. tap the top off when cool. Usually comes off clean as a whistle. I reckon if you sanded the edges with a fine emery you'd be able to drink out of it.

Impressive list but...

its a bull roarer.. a woomera is the wooden extention used to throw a spear so that they get longer faster throws, (hence the name used for the WOOMERA ROCKET RANGE)... Doesnt quite fit unless if rockets were supposed to just spin around and around making a roaring noise!!

A Woomera is used to chuck spears, the thing on the end of a rope you twirl around to make a noise is called a bullroarer, actually its use was fairly wide spread throughout the ancient world and was known in Ancient Greece and being found in the Ukraine from 17,000 BC. It is found in Europe, Asia, the Indian sub-continent, Africa, the Americas, as well as Australia.

Research into Aboriginal DNA shows two distinct DNA's present in modern Aboriginals one being an African DNA and the other being an Indian one so it is more than likely that the bullroarer was introduced from these locations during the migration into this country.

black for ones youve done
green for fictitious ones
blue for things you've heard that sound plausible

I've used one for a lot of things, but much to the disgust of the rest of the family we still use one daily as the kitchen can opener. Same one for the last 8 years.
Why?
Because every other can opener we have ever bought breaks! Lost count of how many useless bits of crap we have tried.
I do have some spare FRED's but doubt they will be needed.
