I dont think boycotting them would make a difference, the petrol comes from all over the place anyway. Caltex and BP would sell fuel to mobil, united and all the others. Most united fuel comes from shell.
Just a quick rant although it doesnt really affect me (diesel price seems fairly stable)
how the hell can Caltex and BP justify a 15c/litre increase in unleaded fuel overnight? why is nobody boycotting them? in america they would be shootings, in france the country would come to a halt.. and in the UK ... well they would boycott them at least once...
/rant over..

I already boycott the local BP resller supply monopoly, have done for years, but I can't say why I might get in trouble.
GQ
you should also boycott shell and mobil as they use each other fuel
i have given up on fuel prices, unfortunitly its a necessity of life and i doubt the government is ever going to do anything about it. i don't even bother driving around looking for the cheapest fuel as i end up using more than i save.
i'm lucky that i live close to my work, i am now back into riding to work four days a week, just need to down size the falcon
it amazes me tho that the accc said that petrol was 10c too much.. then everyone dropped it.. not because of the accc apparently but because of oil costs.. yeah right... and now a few weeks on its on its way back up... and where are the accc?
makes be mad cause BP were quoted as saying that by them increasing the price increased the competition!.... im sure there is some logic.. somewhere..
i didnt realise they all shared (ignorant me.....)
im trying to get back into riding into work.. but at 35k's each way.. i need to bed my legs back into it before launching myself fully back into it.. the move from the UK killed my cycling!
Steve
If you think that is bad, try living in Alice Springs. Without so much as a question to the general public, the local authorities have decided that we can't be trusted with unleaded fuel and it will no longer be sold!! Now we are going to have Opal fuel, a replacement for unleaded which is alledged to be unsniffable.
Just another example of the majority having to suffer due to the actions of a few (lumped in with open road speed limits and limits on alcohol purchases. Just shoot them, I say).
Here in SA, Mobil closed Port Stanvac, the only refinery in SA, claiming it was not economically viable. Umpty bloody three fuel brands available on the market, all get their refined product from the same refinery, but it is not viable? I drive 30 K's up the road, for better octane bio- ulp, 20c cheaper than the standard ulp at my local. No cartell? No price fixing? Okay, you believe you. Always was, always will be, except it is called a corporation.
Shorty.
The annoying thing is that fuel topped out at around $1.40-1.50 mid last year when oil was above $70US/barrel its now well below $60 and fuel hasnt dropped accordingly.
When oil prices change up so does fuel, but when oil prices drop it takes weeks to change cause they still have fuel stored that was made at the dearer oil price, what about the fuel that is made from the cheaper oil?

Of course the whole fuel supply thing is a cartel. In Sydney there are two major refineries, one brand at Kurnell and another at Clyde, yet Sydney has maybe seven 'labelled' outlet brands - so where do the other five get theirs? From Kurnell or Clyde.
Brisbane has one refinery at Pinkenbah and supplies all the brands and outlets thruought SE QLD and Nthn NSW.
So, somehow, there must be some co operation between 'rivals'..................................
but, of course, none of this 'cartel' stuff ever happens, the ACCC just 'tickles' the oilers occasionally to keep them in check - no doubt over a bottle of Dom at a flash restaurant....
