Yep come in from Moruya is the easiest, little Sugerloaf Rd, also if you don't have a Defender you could come in on Dampiar Trig, the reason for this is because of 2 hairpin turns that the Defender won't do in one go, so having the trailer will make it worse when backing up

Our Disco will do it in one go, but fenders, patrols won't because of there crap turning circle.

OK from Moruya it's Campbell St, Luck St, Araluen Rd, left onto Wamban Rd, then onto little Sugarloaf and follow to the Valley, it's steep too so the wife may get a bit worried.

Don't forget they have graded the road again! Club report said it is no longer a 4WD track so even subies can do it with ease. Thats going in from the Canberra side. Hair pins are supposed to have been made easier as well.

Disagree, I've always been able to get round in one go in the defender. Need just the right approach, and turn at the right time - but it can be done.

Camper trailers go into there all the time, if its been exceptionally wet I would avoid the Dampier mountain side with the trailer as its the steeper of the two, although as Edd says its all been regraded so may no be as much of an issue now. The tracks certainly different now to what it was 25 years ago.

Two weeks ago the track in from the eastern side (Moruya) was still in very good condition. No rocks, no washaways no ruts. It has not deteriorated at all since it was cleaned up and widened in one or two spots about 5 months ago. The speed humps are huge and anything with a towbar scratches a big groove in the middle of the humps. But other than that it is really a steep road rather than a track. But as you may know some sections are pure clay and would be either very difficult or impassable if wet.
Pleased to hear the track from the western side has been done up. There were a lot of rocky steps about a year ago. The series III LWB needed two goes at one hairpin.

I always give advice thinking of ability first, not everyone has alot of experience towing offroad.

You or i may think it's easy, some may not even if they do drive a LandRover

I was told the rock steps are all gone. Road works had the jack hammers onto them.

Was much more fun when the track used to go across snowball boggy plain out to pikes saddle

Road is easy and dry was in there last Wednesday and again on Saturday, plenty of water in the river too, there's a great camping spot on your right as you cross the river, picnic table and walking distance to toilet, only one camper in whole area last time, a great spot further down, pm me if you want to know where, I live in Moruya, so if you need help finding your way let me know, need another excuse to get back down there, Regards frank.

If you come in from Moruya that will be as you cross the second time, coming from ther Braidwood side turn left at the bottom and it will be after your first crossing.

The best advice would be to get there with a few hours of light left and have a good look around before you set up there are some excellent spots.

Have a look on google earth at 35 58 02S, 149 44 24E, that is about the spot Frank mentioned, but theres plenty more.
