How did you like Wandin this year?

    Well folks,

I wasn't sure on sunday morning if I were still going as it was said it was going to be 38 deg, bit hot for me but went anyway and took a Pootrol owner with me.

It was pretty good this year I thought with most of the same people there as every year and some new some what over the top modified rigs to ogle at and wish I had the money for.

I got my diehard poo owner to go for a ride in a Defender around the track and we both agreed that we bath need air lockers.

He normally doesn't say much and he didn't really want to come but he didn't shut up all the way home and then started measuring stuff up on his project hilux for some of the mods he saw up there.

Hope you all had fun, I did.

    1st time at Wandin

This year was my first to Wandin (2hr drive).
Manged to find a couple of things I needed and picked up a few Ideas.
Man, there were some heavily modified rigs, in both car park and at vendor sights which were good to look at.
Only complaint was I did not find the people at the Landrover owners club all that friendly or aproachable regarding the club, which I am mildly interested in joining. They all seemed to be sitting down in the shade and having too good of a time catching up with old friends then to talk to potential club members.
I also did not see anywhere, or hear any anoucements about going for rides around the test track, or what the purpose of the test track was for.
Demos in the main arena were good, what I saw, but found it too hot to stick around for too long at.

Yeah, why is that? It's not only Land Rovers either. Seems a bit 'precious' to me. Their loss.

Tend to agree with Hiline on that. Save your money.

Communication skills seem to have by-passed this organisation.

We tend to go every couple of years and have done for years but I think that this was our last got sick of "you drive what? " (Defender) no we don't make this to suit them ! It used to be a Land Rover show with bits for LR's it gets less and less each year and costs more and more each year!

Im not a member and I don't think I even know anyone who is a member of the LOCV or what ever they call them selves but I can understand why on that weekend they may not be all that sociable by Sunday afternoon.

High 30's and a million things to do and only a few people who actually do it normally makes people a bit tempremental as I found when I was involved with some stuff with my parents Lions club.

The landrover based displays were all reasonable but even some of the people on them can be a bit strange and even to the point of rude e.g. do I really have to take money off you and what you want me to help you with that $1500 worth of accessories was the attitude last year so I just made deals this year and a few contacts for the future.

The only thing we bought was a black snake snatchy as Stu broke his pulling out another poo from the crap in Bunyip S/F.

The Idea of the demo track is to see the highly modified Pootrols and Jeeps and the like struggle to get through some of the course while Landrover built trucks just plod around all day without too much effort.

It was great to see a 101 out there making light work of the whole track.

I'll go back next year as Im only 50mins away and I get to catch up with friends in Mt Ev on my way back down.

We went, we walked, we sweltered. I took a total of abnout 4 photos of one of the Discos there to pinch ideas, and bought canvas tool bags. Too hot and bothered to look at the tracks there.

The other thing that would have annoyed the LROCV mob was the volume of the pa speakers on the Snake Handler stall next door. Effin loud, but worth a look.

We would have got more out of it in more favourable conditions, but having all the different camper trailers there was fantastic. We don't know which one, but we know we want one. And 6 months off work...
