[quote=mcrover;498650]Im not a member and I don't think I even know anyone who is a member of the LOCV or what ever they call them selves but I can understand why on that weekend they may not be all that sociable by Sunday afternoon.

High 30's and a million things to do and only a few people who actually do it normally makes people a bit tempremental as I found when I was involved with some stuff with my parents Lions club.

    quote]

We camped overnight, and I went to the stand at 09:00 Sunday morning - nobody was busy then - and it hadn't got too hot either (mind you by 10:00 it was already heating up)

I just do not think they are very well organised.

    I am really peeved!!!!

    The website says:

The 2007 Show will go live on
    Sunday February 18th
    9:00am to 4:30pm

We turned up just before 3pm as our daughter had a birthday party to go to before hand, but a bit over an hour and a half is okay to have a look around i thought.

I handed over my $30 and and headed in, i was suprised that at 3pm some of the exhibitors were packing up, but hey i thought fair enough its bloody hot and all.

I went to have a chat to LROCV, (i was curious to see if it was worth joining) but they were pulling there site down!

Then at 3:30pm an announcement comes over the PA that the show is closed!

    WTF!!!!

Now what really ****s me is:

    1. LROCV cant even get something as important as the show opening hours correct

    2. They took my money (as well as many others) without hesitation even though the show was closing in 30 mins

I didn't go this year but when I have been before I noticed they seemed to have closed down the ticket gates later in the day.

If I was you I'd be writing to LROCV - see if you can get a refund. At least you'd let them know of your disappointment. If they are like other Clubs they should read out correspondence at their meetings.

I envy you guys that went to the show in the high 30s

It was warmer at Gunbower Island on the Murray for 4 days, low to mid 40s

plenty to drink, plenty of fish

Next year when the Wandin show is on again, I will remember to go back to the Murray River......

    Interesting reading....

Never ceases to amaze me the small number of people that attend a show like this then come and shytebag it publicly on a forum like this...

Yes it was bloody hot on Sunday..... it was also bloody hot on Saturday and Friday for the volunteers that put the show together.. And on the Monday morning after as well..

No doubt there are things that could be done better... that show is put together by a small number of volunteers that work bloody hard on it.. and instead of bitching in a public forum... maybe some constructive criticism would be more appreciated or appropriate...

Ladas - aren't I right in thinking you are an LROCV member?...didn't see you there working there either over the weekend or the several working bees before hand to get the show up and running - maybe your 3 negative posts here might have been better handled approaching the club with a suggestion to improve things.. not just having a public whinge.

Crash - Signage to the demonstration track wasn't as good as it should have been... but the were buses continually ferrying people there and back - which where marked on the program.. It will be better signed next year. I'm sad to hear you thought those at the club tent weren't very friendly.... not much of an excuse.. but if it was late in the afternoon - maybe they were a bit buggered from the heat... I know I was.

Dave 110 - I agree it would be nice to have more Land rover specific stuff... but the show is a bit limited by the exhibitors that come.. As far as cost goes... it might surprise you to know it actually does cost money to hire that property, the Generators, the toilets, the showers the buses..etc etc etc.. Think about how much all the other shows cost.... it's not that expensive..

SClarke - Mormons what you been smoking boy?

Macman - yep... we stuffed up the snake pa real good......couldn't get it sorted unfortunately..

Grumpybastard - The show was meant to go through to 4:30 - because of the extreme heat and the fact that there were so many people all ready leaving ( and very few arriving) it was decided to let the exhibitors pack up early as many were requesting. At that time we had a problem - of exhibitors packing up and leaving on tracks full of vistors - which is an obvious worry. I've PM'ed you.

There are definitely things that could be done better at Wandin - but frankly there is a huge amount of work done by a small group of people to make it happen - Sunday saw 1000's of people visit the show and most were happy with it.

Yes it was hot and uncomfortable - but you can't blame LROCV for that!

To the few that choose to whinge and bitch publicly - if you are an LROCV member get involved and actually contribute
    - if you are not, try some constructive criticism

    Otherwise pull your heads in.

Bytemrk how many years has the show been running ????

i think its more than twice

saying that you would think they would have many things already sorted by now

having people paying $20 for 30mins is a bit stiff

i was a member last year and trust me i'll never be one again

some of them being RUDE is a understatement

yes i did put my hand up for a few things whilst i was a member
but got nothing out of it

even sat by myself on a few trips while the secret hand shake went around

    Ray,

It's been going for 29 years,

It's run totally by volunteers - so from year to year - the expertise in different areas changes.

I am not saying it was perfect - of course it wasn't - lots can improve.

I know that being a club member is not for everyone.. it would be strange if we all agreed on everything.
LROCV has about 1000 members - I'm sure some of them are rude... I've just never come across it.

I've already Pm'd Grumpybastard to see if I can help... we are not in the business of ripping people off. Decisions get made in the fly in these situations that have results that weren't planned. They did let people in for free for some time before the exhibitor's started to pack up.. I'm betting GB was one of the last charged..

I don't expect everyone here to agree with me... but it just pi$$es me off when people work hard to make something good - and other negative forumites just $h!tcan it rather than suggesting ways to make it better.

Mark I think if I had read these observations by several individuals I would have thought ' uh, maybe we are doing something wrong.

I had refrained from listing the catalogues of lack of the response from the club I had recieved, but now you have given me the option to come in all guns blazing.

I paid my fees in November, and had to send three emails before I recieved any response, and that was a curt comment on the lines that it's run by volenteers and you just have to wait.

Later - after another request for info I was told that my membership would be discussed / whatever at the next meeting on a certain date, and I would be advised acordingly.

Well guess what, some three weeks after said date still nothing - so again a very polite email requesting the info, and I did get a response

    Dear Ladas,
It appears there may have been a glitch in my email and you might not have received this email sent on 14/12/06.
    Regards,
    Pam

    Dear Ladas
At the last LROCV Committee Meeting your application for membership was considered and I am pleased to advise that it was unanimously accepted.

Congratulations and welcome to the club.

I than advised the club, that as my youngest son was attending his very first day at school I was unable to attend the meeting where I was to recieve me membership pack, I could not attend, and asked for my pack to be sent onto me.

After two weeks I again sent a polite email asking if it had been sent, the response was

    Hi Ladas,
Your pack was sent over a week ago..
It was sent to X XXX XXXXX, Kyabram 3620
Let me know if this is the right address.

I advised that it had not arrived, and that the address was correct.

    No reply

A further two email messages, with no response.

I can if you like post the total content of the email messages with dates, times everything - but that might be even more embaressing to the club.

Had I had a chance of getting any response from the club then maybe I might have offered my services, maybe if I had had my membership pack in time maybe I may have 'felt like' a member and would actually wanted to be part of it.

My visit to the stand to discuss these issues at 09:00 on saturday morning - where I ask can I speak to Pam, response "she's not here" when will she be back "dunno" can I discuss my membership with anyone else, "No Pam deals with that". Can you give me a clue when she's likely to be around "Not a clue, mate"

At that point I gave up, the bruise on my forehead from beating it against a brick wall was getting bigger and bigger.

I like many others had PAID to visit the show, - you know customers, and if you would have read and understood most of the comments then from that you should have worked out that some of the paying CUSTOMERS were not over impressed.

The exhibits were fine, the heat as you say was outside your control, my issue is with the club and now you.

I tried, and tried, and I was not going to expell my full disapointment at the total incompetance in basic pure, easy communications on this forum, but as stated earlier you have given me the perfect oportunity.

Any no I will not "Pull my head in" - I have a point of view, and I am free to air my views on this forum.

But I do know where you can stick you club membership - and it's the opposite end to your head.
