    OH what a feeling

Yesterday we were sat under a nice shady tree having lunch, this ute goes past and then there was this horrible grinding noise.
The ute came to a stop looking a little lower in the front left than it should, missing the wheel.
    OH what a feeling TOYOTA
The vehicle,a near new hilux 4x4.
I see in this mornings paper,Toyota are recalling the 100 series and the 79 onwards series built between 1997 and 2005 for a small problem, the front disc brake rotors coming loose.NICE!!!!!

Had to help a work colleague change a tyre on his Hilux the other week.

Well, after we broke 3 of the 6 wheel studs... Oh, Bugger!

Yep Toyota's are good for loosing wheels.

Seems things have not changed. Forty years ago when I was working in the Simpson, with a fleet of Landcruisers, we all travelled with half a dozen wheel studs (and nuts) in the glovebox, and became adept at roadside stud replacement. In those days the Landcruisers came with a really good toolkit!

I saw the recall notice on the 100 Series brakes the other night. I was working in an outer suburban / rural ambulance branch where they have a 100 series response vehicle.

How handy, the front end can't handle weight or rough terrain and the brakes can't handle speed.
