about to do the defender so will ask around again...

I use GIO for both cars. Unfortunatly had to use them a few times in the last years. (Non of which being our fault)They have been great. One vehicle was written off and we were paid with in a week. These guys seem to still have customer service.

NRMA wanted $1440 to insure mine for $15000, GIO $860 & Shannons $580 (for "not everyday use").

I didn't try AAMI but I wonder why there's such a difference with the NRMA......

It's to pay for all the advertisements which tell you how much you save with the NRMA.

The TCIS insurance skyrocketed when it went to CGU - the same insurance compnay as NRMA (IAG) - also owners of Swann, SGIO, etc See http://www.iag.com.au/pub/iag/about-us/brand.shtml

I might have to use my mum's address for rego/insurance in future - my dad's is now "outer metro" , she's still "country" .

I might do the big call around next year & see what differences there are.

I am sure we pay about that with NRMA for our 2006 Defender insured for $54000. That of course is with maximum no claim bonus and rating 1 driver status. As the missus says have had a great run with them.

I am with QBE, they were $655/yr as opposed to AAMI- $800, NRMA $1100 and TCIS $1400. They cover me off road, provided that i am legally allowed to be there and im not on a track i shouldnt be on.

Carefull. Our insurance went up when we moved from ACT to country NSW. Excuse was that Country NSW has higher claims.

Mine is $655 for $32,000 value.
