I decided my Compac Presario X1404AP laptop needed an upgrade from 512Mb to 1.256Gb of RAM so I ordered a 1Gb memory upgrade.
It arrived today so I eagerly installed it.
Oh well. My laptop won't boot up with the memory in place so it's back to the old 256Mb+256Mb memory and a machine that is slower than the Second Coming. I'm sure it wasn't this slow when I bought it some years ago. :(
It's the right memory according to the Kingston site. Now to convince the supplier that it's faulty. (I'm assuming that as there is only one user-accessible memory slot, that's where it should go and the base 256Mb RAM stays somewhere inside the guts of the machine. In other words, the 1Gb module doesn't have to be in the internal first slot.)
By heck I hope our present bathroom/laundry/toilet upgrade goes well. Maybe it will as my wife arranged all of it.
