Thread: My propensity for buying faulty goods continues.

So after loosing the dogs on highrange about 5 months back and not being in a place to get good bearings I fitted cheap ones, I needed 1000K and I got avout 15000 before failure..... The inevitable occured at the predictable moment of least convenience...

I fitted my spare box, made it to basically the end of the driveway before the gears ate the pto chain.

in the 4 day ordeal that has been the still unfinished box build I've had
brand new bearings fracture on installation in the gears (freeze them slip them in the hole and then once they've warmed up the hardfacing on the race has cracked off)
a replacement bearing with a defective cage,
had its replacement bearing be a race only in a sealed bag in a box that should have been a complete bearing
snapped the threads off of a brand new intermediate cluster mounting bolt using only a 1/2 inch ratchet (its something like an m18)
Shims that have not been manufactured to the correct diameter
orings that are the wrong size in the packages
a brand new linishing belt snap as soon as I released the tensioner
a gifted new work light only hold charge for 15 minutes and refuse to recharge.

I am convinced this box is the murphy deamon core box. day 5 now on a 4 hour job

We fitted a brand new oil pressure switch safety to a large 20 HP blast freezer compressor the other day.
Call back yesterday,it’s shagged.
Brand new,straight out of the box.

So today will be a 6 hr job including 1 1/2 travel each way,plus yesterday,parts only warranty.

I recently replaced solar panels on the house. So had a number of old panels. Decided I'd mount one behind the fish pond and run a 12v pond pump instead of running a 240v pump 24/7 .
$250 for a 2000 lph low voltage pump , spent 3 hours frigging around installing it , wire up solar / controller / battery etc & it no work. Pull pump out , plug it in with its supplied transformer - dead as a dodo . They are sending a replacement.

Same day my new you beaut Goodwe solar Inverter arrives , As the new panels I installed are too much for old Sungrow Inverter as its clipping output due to excess current ( Old inverter PV max current in is 10A , new panels are 15A )

Hook up inverter today , all vital signs are good, not reporting fault, just sitting there waiting , Not generating, showing pv voltage , but not current , Faulty in box . story of my life. waiting for support response. put old inverter back and its cranking.

Ive just had 2 of the captive bolts on the drive flange strip off (as in snap) and the batteries for my cordless tools decide to stay flat....

in refitting the nyloc nut the tube of loctite decided it didnt want to let the locktite out, after prodding the nozzle and getting it to flow, the side of the loctite bottle has split and spilt most of the contents..

while running around to try and sort the warranty of the charger/batteries Ive found out that if you have a charger that thinks 10.5v is the minium voltage for battery and a tool that thinks 9.5 is the minimum voltage the tool will flatten the battery to the point the charger wont charge it and reject it as a faulty battery (voltages are indicitive only not real work numbers) so in checking out if it was the battery or the charger apparently letting it sit on the charger for 5 minutes is enough that my charger now recognises my batteries. the recoomendation, use someone elses charger to get the battereis to the point where your charger will charge them or buy another charger or dont let the batteries run down so low before you charge them

In going and buying a 12v vehicle charger, some old lady has backed into the parked bike and knocked it over so today is the day that I learn I also need a new seal for the tank on the klr and the switch/mirror cluster on the left side is now loose, probably got a broken clamp bolt mount inside, yes I know it was an old lady, she came into the shop to find out who owned the bike, No i didnt bill her for parts, there wasnt any apparent damage till I got home and the mirror folded around.

L'il olde ladies are mostly some one's Mum & are usually good eggs, but are **** when trying to nick mirrors.
She was just honing her removal skills.

and the replacement nutserts are not metric.....

of course, Id have recognised this if I had kept my mandrel sets seperate and not just grabbed the bit that fit the nutsert..

fortunately I only had to replace 1 so the center plate is now held down by 5 instead of 6 screws....

There there, don't beat yourself up, I'm sure there a millions of things out there that are holding by a wing & a prayer & the muckanic meant to return & finally fix it. But never did.

One has been known to do this but I've never had bits flying off at random or Oil splashing around the place so the theory sounds sound.

Pretty normal workmanship done by any new age Fridgie these days,helping save the world by reducing the emission of refrigerants
And plant downtime.....
