Thread: Central locking for 300tdi Defender?

I did my Defender TD5 recently, so the Tdi should not be any different. Is fairly easy and takes about 5-6hrs to do it properly. I mounted the control unit behind the dash along with an alarm/immobiliser. Took 2 days to do both and I reckon the alarm was harder than the central locking. The units I have mount easily, but do just touch the imside of the door panel, which is no issue as the actual actuator arm does not, only the body of the solenoid. Will be putting in the rear door this week when I get another slave. PM me on Monday night and I will rip the doors off and take some piccies if required. Love it now not having to open each door. Remember the front door locks can not be tested with the door open, must be closwed to lock.

I was hoping to properly immobilize / alarm / central lock her but now I'll have to give it a serious rethink. I prefer to get "professional" people to work on my baby as I'm good at pulling things apart, it's just putting them back together where I have difficulty

Regarding the back doors (back passenger doors, not the rear door) they have the holes where there could be door sensors, but that's it.

In the front when I got my overhead radio carrier thingy installed by Opposite Lock they changed the light over as well, however eventhough I asked for a 3-button switch (on / door / off) they reckon they "couldn't find the wires" from the door so I've been stuck with a 2 button switch (on / off) for the past x years - which really ****ed me off because I knew they were full of sh*t (and yes, it was confirmed to me by a 3rd party that the wires were still just sitting up at the lights, not plugged in)
