    Front Recovery Point

Does anyone have a tip or solution to fitting a front recovery point to a DISCO II ( 2000 model) when the standard bumper and spoiler is fitted and currnetly no bar?

I dont mind cutting a whole if need be but where should it be fixed to?

There is a story behind this request, I have just returned from a beach run.....in the dark where the tide was gently lapping at my tyres!!!

The cause was not my fault but in hindsight I was completely unprepared for the worst (that did happen)

    Ill post the report soon.

    front recovery

4X4 intelligent (can be found on D2Au web site) sell a set of front recovery points that bolt onto the same place as the steering arm protector bolts too. They are about $160.00 shipped and include the longer bolts as well and instructions. You will have to cut a hole into your front bumper, and it replaces the OEM hook on the passenger side. By the way I have an ARB bull bar fitted.

    Hi All
I have just fitted an airbag compatible ARB Bull Bar to the S1 Disco.
It has recovery holes on either side.
Is it safe to recover directly to the Bull Bar, or should you have separate recovery points?
    Thanks

Ive incorporated the Reco Points in the mounting brackets of my Bash Bar but these are directly inline with the chassis rails
I have two points to recover from
When attaching straps to recover use both points of recovery with an equaliser strap and Bow Shackles to share the load between recovery points lessening the load on the bolts that attach the Bull Bar to the chassis

P.S. Always use rated bolts of a high tensile steel to mount Bash Bars and Recovery Points as the common garden variety bolts will not withstand snatching or winching and can result in severe injury or worse

Those aren't recovery points, they are winch hook holders.

Whatever you do DON'T use the bullbar as a recovery point, well not unless you want to remove your bullbar quickly

Recovery points should be bolted to the chassis rails and then use an equaliser strap to recover the car.

Also try to minimise the use of bow shackles if possible (ie) loop the snatch strap around the equaliser strap using a stick ro rolled up magazine in the loop to stop it binding tight.

I understand the danger of flying bow shackles,,

but got a pic of the "looped strap"??

    Thumbs up

PM Dranged on this site, (Justin),
He has a solution for your needs they are fitted to the chassis and if you don't mind cutting holes in the front bumper these will be spot on for you.
I have them fitted to my D2 and they are tough. I have an ARB Bull Bar and just happened to have the holes already in the right place for these to fit.

They use egsisting holes in the front chassis with up graded bolts and nuts.

I can get a photo of them for you tomorrow if interested.
