Never know perception of Land Rover build quality may improve and resale values for Landies might also improve.
They can't do much worse than what's come out of the UK in the past.![]()
I agree too - IME it all depends on who owns/runs the factory, and the training and QC that is in place. Most of the newer Bosch/Makita (etc) power tools I have bought are made in China, and the quality still seems as good as the older equivalents.
A chinese company makes a copy of the 4BD1(T) - would love to see defenders made with that engine again!!!![]()

Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) hopes to Shanghai as much of the Chinese automobile market as possible. The government-owned company is one of China's largest automotive firms, with about 50 plants in the Shanghai area. SAIC makes passenger cars, tractors, motorcycles, trucks, buses, and automotive parts. The company's joint venture with General Motors, Shanghai General Motors, makes Buicks for the Chinese market. Through Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Company, a joint venture with Volkswagen, SAIC also makes the Santana. The company's other operations include car leasing, auto parts wholesale and retail, and financing.
According to the BBC, Fiat and Hyundai are also 'interested.'
I hope not. At least with the Chinese petty EU or US trading quotas won't stifle a company, but politics can be a threat in small countries.

So does that mean they already know how to build a series 3, they might be able to bolt a defender together.
As long as they import their bolts, the chinese bolts you buy these days are not good in most cases and bearings have very little hardening and tolerances are NQR.
'cuse me sirs, would you lyke flied lice with that wandwover?
Much of the BA falcon came from china especially engine components so as long as quality control is kept up they should do ok........not that LR and QC have ever been linked !
