Yes the danger to my health is more palatable, she rides a bike but has never smoked.
I'm torn this time between a dirt bike or road bike or a littlebitofeverything bike.
Only just stumbled across this thread.
Great going guys.
Shay's Dad is currently going through the motions trying to diagnose a mystery cardiac and respiratory problem at present. He's had a bypass 10 years ago, another stent procedure about 3 months ago and still going downhill. And you guessed it, was a smoker for years.
On the bike front - have a look at http://www.advrider.com/forums to see what they get up to all over the world on all sorts of bikes.
Well, I just sold mine, but I used to have fun on it![]()
Has it been this long?
Dropped to 14mg patches yesterday. Still 24hr ones (some wicked dreams lately). Tough, but getting easier. Adjusted pretty well already.
I actually went without patches on Tuesday and just couldn't go on, so I had a couple of winfield gold.
It wasn't a setback tho, it just made me more determined to quit.
I hated the horrible things; I got a headache, the sulphur tasted like crap and they weren't strong enough for a rolly smoker anyway, so I endured it all for nothing.
I gave the packet away to someone else.
I think I am almost non smoker-now, but for the small issue that I'm still addicted to nicotine.
If you're thinking about it... do it. Now. Don't bother to plan it.
Try the patches and a munchie or gum of choice.
Here's a tip, the 'Extra' type gum stays softer for longer so you don't get lockjaw.
I might die from aspartame poisoning instead.![]()
Keep at Dan.
You'll make it.
I did it after 30 years of smoking. I'd never go back to them.

It's daunting and seems absolutley insurmountable at first.
It takes a few weeks but you finally realise that you CAN kick it and you will find something else to do with yourself. And your money. And might see Grandkids one day afterall. A bit morbid but that's the reality of it.
Drinking is still a challenge, haven't had more than 2 drinks in all this time (ok home mixes so double that or more) but I wouldn't trust myself drunk yet
.

Dan, the fear of not seeing my kids grow up certainly helped me - together with the fact that my 17 yo had taken it up. I said I'd give up if he did.
11 years on he's still smoking.....
