My son took it up at about 17 so I said I'd give up if he did. He reckoned I'd never make it as I'd tried acupuncture, hypnosis, Seventh Day Adventist method, cold turkey, nicorettes, et al.

So I got the patches which were a 10 week course. By the end of 6 weeks I hadn't had a fag and I was no longer craving. I haven't had once since and I cannot imagine ever going back to them.

Now the I find the smell offensive. I haven't been to a pub or club for years owing to the smell.

    .....

Sounds familiar - before I married my late wife she gave up smoking in a similar deal with her 15 year old.

I think about quitting but havn't been motivated to try properly. It's also the only thing that gets me away from my desk. I work through lunch as it is.

My wife also smokes and doesn't want to quite at this point.

    I do still enjoy it.

Guess I may need to look into the nicorete inhalers.

IT does that to you. You turn away from the screen and notice that you have been sitting there for hours.

I gave up also, 1971, when Styvesant were 37c a pack of 20!

Forgot to take my smokes to work one day, thought I'd bum one off a workmate, decided to wait until lunch, then decided to wait until I got home, then thought no, I'll wait until the next morning...............I never smoked again.

Like some of you we have smokers at work and when they return from their many smokes during the day (a contentious issue due to the time wasted) they stink. I often wonder how a non smoking partner puts up with it.

I use my smoke breaks to check things with others. I also don't go off for coffe or lunch like others. I'm normally more available than the non smokers.
