I gained a heap of weight, still trying to lower it,

felt like crap for first 6 months but now loving it

as for the smokers, I can still stand next to them and put up with the smell, but glad it isn't on me

    G'day Folks

I was a smoker for 40 years, and it took a heart attack to get me to stop, had my last ciggie as I was walking down the steps to get into the Ambulance that took me to hospital haven't had one since, the 6 day stay hooked up to machinery sure helped, can even remember the date, 11-2-2000 straight after providing the military vehicle for the local Nashos day march, was to live with for about 3 months, but felt much better after that, followed that little episode up in 2001 with Quad bypass surgery now my ears and feet and fingers are all the same temperature as the rest of me And Yes! you will put on weight, as the cigarettes tend to keep the metabilisom down, and it will be hard to lose again, but the increased health and activity helps.

    cheers

I dont agree with that, its like giving up two addictions at once. Have a drink or two but make it something with a strong taste to replace the craving you have. When I was quitting I allowed myself at least a couple of jim beam and colas a night to replace the strong taste of the ciggy I was craving.

Find ways to reward yourself for not having one.

Look forward to not smoking rather than see it as something you have to do.

Look on it as a positive step.

Drum would cause me to give up! Port Royal was (is?) far better. My grandad was a Champion Ruby smoker.
