    Angry Defender prices.

Sold my 2003 Defender (MY02) with 66,000 for 38 grand........ and then bought a '97 300Tdi for 14,000. Not as fast but no computer which makes me happy.
I've spent a fair bit doing it up and the first longish trip to Carawine starts next Friday.
    Hurrah hurrah.
    Everybody else keep working.
    Alan.

I was of the opinion that insurance and car yards whent by the "red Book" for their value.

Red book! PFFFT ! I would like to know where you can purchase a defender for the prices they are quoting! Not sure where they get their pricing from but a defender 130 dual cab went to auction today and sold for just over $10,000 more than what redbook valued it at as a private sale at the top end of the range. Are defenders appreciating assets?

I will say that when I was looking (as mentioned above) the prices were crazy. However, a couple of months after I bought they had a bit of a collapse, so I think it depends a bit on what is available at the time.

I wouldn't say "appreciating" - but definitely holding value. Its' simply supply and demand. There just aren't many out there for sale since the geniuses at LRA decided it's not worth marketing them several years ago.
