    TD5 Defender prices?

Seen these (Scroll to bottom of page), and wondering if that's really what you have to pay for 02 and 04 vehicles these days? Thoughts?

Well, I thought they were hugely expensive compared to new prices (Especially the 110) but I guess things are worth whatever sellers can get for them, hence my question. If people really are paying these amounts, I have no choice - pay the same or go without!

Ideally though, I'd like a bit more of a battle scarred pre-facelift '99-'01 110 from a local private sale.....but have had the missus check the quokker while I'm away and nothing apparantly.

Try and insure them for that. We can only insure our 2000 model with $12k of accessories for $22 at present.

OK, but dealer price and insurance value aside, what's your view on the value of your TD5? It's about the age I'm after, and you're in the same state, so I'm wondering what I'll have to pay here if I can actually find one.

I went through this looking for one privately and found they were all hugely expensive. I ended up paying a little more and getting a new one.

I think the key is just keep looking and be prepared to wait until the car you want comes up at the price you can pay.

My 1997 300tdi is insured for $18K PLUS accessories (another $18K worth). They suggested $13K agreed valued, and I told them that despite what the Red Book said, I couldn't replace the car for that much. So I paid an extra $50 for the $18K amount.

Well when the new ones finally arrive I'll be considering any offers over $35K for mine.

(2003 Defender with only 63,000kms for those interested)
