Well, this thread promted me to finally fit a new MAF after drowning my TD5 a couple of years ago and glad I did. Car drives so much better and feels more responsive. Will see how it goes in low range (occasiionally it is a bit sluggish up hill in 2nd or 3rd) Attempted to clean my MAF just after I drowned the car but it has always had the remnants of muddy water on it which must have contributed to it's sluggish driving for so long.

Anyway, changed and now happy........until the next issue

Fuel is another thing I will be monitoring now the new MAF is in. Before a chipped mine I was getting about 1000k's to the tank (95L tank) but as soon as it was chipped thhaat dropped to about 850k's per tank which according to various sources should not happen. Anyway, since then I have fittted 4.11 diff gears, 33" mud tyres, added a bit more weight through accesories, so my figures will be all over the place (currently around 700ks p/tank during normal town driving) however, I would still expect better fuel economy than i am getting given the faact the car is very well maintained and has had virtually every sensor changed on it over the past 2 years.
Will report back once I have some results as perhaps it has always been in my dirty MAF.

what contact cleaner did you manage to use on yours... i have jaycar and altronics stuff available to me... the jaycar stuff looks like it has lube in it tho which im guessing wont be a good thing! i need to see if the MAF is causing my intermittent turbo lag... so easiest to start there... then i'll check the other suggestions in my other post

    Thanks

    Steve

    CRC contact cleaner.
Try the turbo wastgate control switch.Around $70,to find it follow the 3 tubes from the wastgate, intake hose and the pipe to the intercooler.
Put a new one in mine, seems better off the mark/mid range.
