    Ya just got love publicity

My 12 year old son entered a national spelling competition that is being aired on SBS at the moment. It was filmed earlier this year, we had a 4hour film crew session at out place as other contestants did too. My son then was chosen as a finalist out of 1500 applicants Aussie wide, then played off against 150 Victorian contestants to be picked to be one of the 20 finalists from the whole of Australia. There were 5 days filming at Foxtel studios in Sydney for the game show.
It is supposed to bring awareness about the importance of Spelling words correctly ( something that kids today can't do. there are a lot of illiterate kids graduating from schools these days.
Although much of the filming has ended up on the editors floor,.
Well the reviews given were not that favourible, 'Melb Age' says Dull, not enough profile of the contestants ( I tend to agree, more stuff on me and the kids fishing, that was originally filmed.
The Taswegans reckon we are insensed parents ( what ever that means) and the kids are socially Maladjusted ( gee, being a nerd is not cool)
One contestant does portray as a little stuck up and snobby, but they can't judge us all on that.
I reckon bad pubilicity would probably do the show good.

Indeed well done to your boy, u really wonder just how so many slip through the cracks and go through school without having to actually write something, its a real shame as in this current world u would think such skills would be real good idea with computors and stuff

Thanks Guys, His name is Kristopher, his episode airs this Monday and Wednesday. Hotspell 6.00pm SBS. It is hi pressure on the kids, 4 hours solid filming to do a 1/2 episode. And being tall is an advantage on the Buzz off round.
He is a bit of a local Celeb in the Hills here and the local paper will do a feature on him in next weeks newspaper. Not often a local boy does good nationally. except say the solo kid Jessie Martin who sailed around the world.
