Another vote for coils and citronella. Coils are easier to carry when camping. The only thing that we found stopped Sandflies when sailing in the NT was RID (Insect repellant in a purple container. Smells though, also soothes old bites etc, good as a substitute "stingose")

The bug zappers kill the male mozzies. The females are the ones who suck your blood to feed their eggs. If its a good bug zapper it will take about two months if you run the light every night to break the breading cycle.

But 95% of the catch will be the moths and beatles which gekkos and spiders should look after anyway.

    Snap.

We get a fair bit of breeze on the deck but if it is still we put the pedastal fan on. That surprisingly keeps them away.

If it is freely available, try burning dried cow dung...

Works a treat and no smell...

I'm one of those unfortunates that mozzies LOVE and when I get bit I get a blister type reaction and the resultant scars can take 6 months to fade

Needless to say that I have tried everything, vitamins, garlic capsules, mozzie coils, citronella lamps, repelant sticks, sitting under a fan, those zappy lights, keeping covered, (BTW they can bite through socks and cotton shirt materials easily) the ONLY repellant I have found to really keep them at bay is a good spray of Aeroguard tropical strength.
Eveyone tells me it stinks but I'd rather stink than get bit.

So trash your lamps and buy Aeroguard.

BTW if you ever get stuck without mozzie spray cover your skin in liquid soap and leave it on to dry. Next best thing to Aeroguard.

My brother reacts to bites the same and he has found applying Elmore oil to the bite area stops this reaction.

Thanks for that, I haven't heard of it before I guess the local healthfood type shop?

I'll look for it and get some.
