Thread: bug zappers

We've had a couple of these and the problem is that they kill about 95% moths and critters that we don't want to kill and about 5% mozzies. I'm not sure if they have changed the design recently but the replacement lamps used to cost a fair bit and needed replacing every few months. We gave up on them and went back to repellent. Funnily enough, the old fashioned smouldering mozzie coils seem to be effective and we still used them when we're camping.

Ahhhh the serenity...

Best thing to do is buy a few large cheap hurricane lanterns from Aussie Disposals, or nice Dietz ones as per personal preference, and burn them using Citronella Oil. Works like a treat.

I've found Mozzie coils to be very effective. With 1 burning in the open end of our outside area we don't get any.
There also very cheap , $3.00 for 20 at bunnings . thats up to 180 hours burning time !!!!!!!!

Still haven't found anything that stops sand flys though

Great for flies and midgies, we stick spiders in ours!, found them to be quiet useless with mozzies though, we use citronella candles and citronella oil in our bambo pole burners, works when not windy to a certian degree

If they are attracted to you you need to increase Vitamin B - suposed to help.

I eat vegemite like its going out of fashion, Much more vitamin B and the army will start doing tests on me

The best that I have come across is "Tiger Brand" Mossie coils they work both inside and out, 2 for the outside area, they are very active at the moment, gotta love Caboolture Mossies
